  1. No doubt, this will be a tremendous murder investigation.
  2. Did the Sig 210 do anything the Browning High Power couldn't do for less?
  3. Seriously, he made a very good living off of someone else's dime. His age is irrelelavant because someone somewhere is feeling the affects of his work or lack off years later. They may have delayed till now to not look suspicious or because they finally have felt the effects.
  4. Those Uncle Mike's Banana Grips are the best for J frames.
  5. Let me introduce you to my aunt whos attorney could have saved her home. Long story short, she is homeless and widowed because of bad advise from an attorney, who sat on his hands and waited too long.
  6. 649 No Dash 2in .38 Spl -1 2in .38 Spl. -2 2in .38 Spl. -3 2.25 357 Mag -4. 2in .38 Spl -5. 2.25in 357 Mag -6. 2in .38 Spl
  7. Is the 649 the 20oz version with the 1 7/8" barrel?
  8. I don't know why he stopped with the appeals, I do know he spent upwards of $10k fighting his case. He had in my opinion one of the best attorneys in TN. Truthfully, I am as confused as any on why THP is allowed to ask for a DL and obviously others are not. The only trooper I ever asked about it gave me an answer I am discounting as being incorrect. An attorney that specializes in traffic cases that I know well says it is a blue law that if ever challenged will most likely fall. According to the attorney, even though Appendix ( c ) was last modified in 1997, the law makers believed that THP was the issuing authority for driving privileges in TN, that is why they were given the statute to request.
  9. We are getting further off topic but there is case law on Tennessee Highway Patrol's Drivers License Checkpoints. The claimant was a friend of my family, Larry Allen Hicks, he was arrested at a DL checkpoint in Chattanooga about 15 years ago with a small amount of drugs. Long story short he won an appeal in local appellate court but the decision was reversed by the State Supreme Court, Jerry Summers represented Hicks and encouraged him to not take it any further. In TCA 40-7-103 ( c )it gives THP the right to conduct Drivers License Checkpoints but in Hicks' case it was a Chattanooga officer making the arrest, their case was hinging on the Chattanooga officer making an unlawful arrest and not TCA 40-7-103 ( c ) , which was pretty cut and dry.
  10. The same deal or very close to it can be found local sometimes. I know there were some at GT Dist that would be about $350 OTD w/2or 3 mags. There was even some G37s at that price.
  11. Not a difference one way or the other as far as shooting without an extension. People do swear by the "GAP extensions" though. I am a huge fan of the baby Glocks, you can't go wrong with a 26 or a 33.
  12. There is still one way to buy it without a prescription or without going a license number but still few know. Actually such few people know it isn't worth addressing yet. Most are getting it by recruiting smurfs who are needing money. Middle men between the smurfs and the cookers catch people walking out of payday loans, title loan places, and such who offer 35-50 dollars a box. They don't even bother to ask names or get phone numbers, they don't want them.
  13. I love Peyton, but 34-27 in favor of Seattle. If you look at team rankings Seattle can shut down a passing game. Denver, even with Thomas and Moreno, has no rushing game. Denver's defense is almost last in the NFL with points, Seattle's is in the top or the top. To have a chance Denver must shutdown Lynch.
  14. Go in person, I was told they had some used M&P9 mags that came from the Witchita PD who just went to Glock 22's.
  15. True on wearing a bigger gun on the belt. The finish on the airweights are made from crayon, they suck. Sometimes S&W will refinish it and sometimes they want you to pay $250. I rubbed the finish off of my 642 by resting a string trimmer shaft on my leg, even though it was in a holster it ate the finish off every edge. The black 37, 438, 442 seem to hold up a little better or at least not show as much. The scandium and titanium models do not do any better. For finish durability, the all stainless is the way to go. There are a few satin nickel finish 442 and 438 out there, the finish is really poor. If it is a "Pro" or a 3" barrel in an air weight or ultralight, ignore everything I have said recently, just buy it!
  16. Something else, while I have never heard of it happening, it would be possible to drop the 638 on its shroud enough to bend it rendering it useless. My grandfather actually shared that thought with me many years ago, he also had mentioned the concern of loose coins droped in the same pocket as the Smith. Two factors that would not have effects on a chief special. He toted a few j frames around back in his LE days, actually squeezing rounds off in the line of duty.
  17. Is that a "CEN" serial prefix? I see you like the barahmi hip grips, add a Tyler T, and that you finish it off with an inner tube.
  18. At $25/50 it is chaper than I thought it would be.
  19. I have owned or still do just about very configuration of the small Smiths.  Most people think the lightweight scandium, titanium, and alloy ones are the ones to own.  While individual mileage may vary the lightweights recoil a lot, I mean a lot.  The all steel 36, 60, 49, and such normally only weigh a little bit more but it helps so much with recoil.  I bet if you were to let your lady shoot an older 38spl 649 and then shoot a 638, she would pick the all steel, especially since she won't be carrying it.  Everyone recommends 5 shot snub nose for women but generally they are a terrible choice for a new shooter.  The 638 is what is called a bodyguard configuration 38/49/638/649, in my opinion it eliminates the best qualities of the chief series 36/37/60/360and eliminates the best qualities of the Centennial 40/42/340/342/442/642/640/940.  People that have never owned a j frame think the exact opposite is true.  Even though there is not an instance where cocking the hammer would be needed in self-defense, with a bodyguard, I don't think in a high stress situation you would be able to do it.  Also the bodyguards tend to collect all kinds of crap in the opening. That opening is a funnel for water to enter into the mechanism, a lot of old cops that wore these in pockets or on ankles would have non functioning guns a month or two after standing in the rain during investigations.  With the Chiefs Special the spur can actually add some retention, if someone tries to pull the gun from a pocket it snags.  When you go to retrieve it, place your thumb on the hammer and you can pull it right out.  Also most retention holsters are made for the spur, but will work with the centennials. You either have to modify a thumb strap  holster for a bodyguard or get the type that goes over the trigger guard.   The Centennials or hammerless as they are called are probably the best, very low maintenance and not much to stop them.  I foolishly let the cream of the crop, a 640-no dash, out of my collection a year ago.  At 20oz it was a dream to carry and even more of a dream to shoot.  Prior to that I had carried an old 642, fine gun but it was like having dynamite go off in your hand with any ammo worth a flip.
  20. You don't even know how right you are, and to beat all people dream of that job. I have only known one that was somewhat happy, and she was about the laziest person I had ever met in my life. It was about the closest she could get to not having a job.
  21. That same ammo is 17.99 at Academy. Note though it is only 85gr.
  22. Does Fairview not use a Glock 22? Even if it is 357 sig wouldn't consider than an odd caliber, used by more than 10% of agencies in TN and probably the United States.
  23. Another helpful tip often overlooked is have your numerical address well posted, in multiple places and either reflective or illuminated. They have interviewed crooks in prison who said they look for houses that don't have the address posted, supposedly even one incident of a burglar trying to convince a cop he was at the wrong address. I understand you have a battery backup but the alarm can easily be disabled once located. This is a concern with non monitored systems. With a monitored system the alarm company can detect a false reset or disconnected line. Your are ages ahead of most people with your system now though. One of the worst cases I was ever heard of a young lady came home to the house she was sitting at to a disabled system, no longer monitored, her attacker was waiting inside with his "rape kit". I believe the incident went on for hours, I bet she will never ever be the same. I am not a fan of the key fobs to disable a system, you need to physically enter your house to disable your system so you can have a quick glance or push the silent distress deactivation. Something else with a key fob, almost everyone of us will at one point loose our keys, do you really want someone else able to locate where you live and disable your system and unlock your doors. Oh, and while we are on it, garage door remotes are the devil also.

    Guns Stolen

If a person recieving stolen guns finds out that the items are stolen they almost always end up in a river. Releasing serial numbers and descriptions is one of the worst actions to take. If the shady person knows the items he has taken has been reported as hot, he or she will more than likely stash them away or throw them out to avoid being caught. If a criminal has no reason to believe police have an accurate description of the items stolen they will very shortly appear at pawn shops or on online classifieds. Not too many stolen guns are recoverd from basements, sock drawers, or lakes. Most stolen guns are recoverd from gun shops, pawn shops, waist bands of criminals in the streets, or on traffic stops. I can't believe the person admitted to throwing them in the creek. Never post ads about stolen merchandise, especially not firearms. If anything spread the word that you were broken into but don't have a good description nor the serial numbers. I would be inclined to tell a burglary victim report it to the police and tell no one else.
  25. Is this the one that is in Graysville? South Rhea Gun Shop, they are pretty nice people, and they have good gun prices. Back a few years ago when OD Glocks were $700 on gunbroker, they had a new G21 OD for $549, same price as black ones.
