Should I buy a press kit or individual pieces?
Patton replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
The Lee scale that comes in those kits is fine. It would be nice if it went higher, but I found mine to be as accurate as many others. -

You mentioned about not thinking that you need the 4 die set for the 9mm. I get by without one but I really wish that I had one. -

I would be willing to bet the Lee and the RCBS will last you more than a million pulls of the handle. If I were starting over tomorrow I would probably but the RCBS kit, but that is just how I feel today. Most people find out over time the equipment and methods that work best for them. It honestly is trial and headache to best determine your desired ways of reloading. I do not know why they just don't include factory crimp dies with every die set because everyone will find they like them. Also, the last time I checked .223 carbide dies cost big dollars, and unless you buy used, old 9mm dies they will be carbide. -
"D'oh, that's a big gun. Is that a 45 cal?"
Patton replied to suspiciousmind's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
One of my grandpas was a sheriffs deputy some in the 60's and 70's; most cops thought you should carry the biggest gun you can stand. He had a guy at gun point one night when he decided to make a run for it straight at my grandpa. Grandpa shot him with a pencil barrel S&W .38. The turd said later that the gun looked small so he was not worried about it hurting. My grandpa could only carry a .38 so he went to a heavy barrel. Then turds cried at the sight of it and thought that it was a hand cannon. -
I regret not buying an authentic Enfield when I was in Afghanistan ten years ago. They were left over from the British occupation in the 1880's. The locals used to trade them in the bizzars for around $150, but it was a hassle to ship them back to the states.

It was either out of battery or a hand was impacting the hammer.

Yes, it was for sure a 40 and I believe that it was a 226 rather than a 229.

This is no joke, a Baptist church that I went to as a teen used to call members who didn't show up on speaker phone in front of the whole congregation. The would often wish them well, tell them that we missed them, and sometimes ask them to drop a check in the mail. I think they knew about the stereotype and made laughs about it. I would go back to that church every time the doors would open if it were the same people there. It was a great group; even my wife, a life-long Methodist, thought the world of them.

Squib loads are more common with factory ammo for sure. Separated case cartridges are more common with reloads. I have never seen one happen before me, but local police departments have had to stress the importance of ceasing fire when a pop but no kick occurs do to a huge amount of them over the last couple of years on the police range.

How many has he seen get shot from a 9mm? There is a guy up in NYC, Angel Alvarez, that got shot more than 20 times by NYPD, and one of those was in the head, that could probably argue that 9mm ain't shit.

I have had difficulties with it over the last 2 days.

I don't think it is too ugly, but if you have never shot and handled a 3" revolver you are missing out. I saw a video of it on YouTube and it looks like it still has the short ejector rod though.

Yeah, but there is a 50/50 chance that a potluck will occur afterwards.

I am sure that you can take your LCR and learn a lot with it, but I would venture that this class is to teach semi auto drawing, reloads, and emergency drills that pertain to semis.

Similar nonsense is said in every gun shop across the country. Eavesdrop sometime and you will hear.

They were about the same price. The reason is GT's has been flooded with trade-ins over the last year. I got a second chance at one of the $425 Sig 229's from GT's thanks to US Money shops sitting on one from a transfer.
-
If you make it to Chattanooga you can buy one at GT's. In fact they got theirs at GT's.
-
Yes they are, but it is hard to beat a 3" though.

I like the 66 better than any of them. Actually it was the nickel, 2.5" that I thought was the 66. The nickel looked more stainless to me.

I tend to prefer my G23 also. I shoot it just as well and prefer the extra energy. To each their own though.
-
I prefer the glock, but only because I like things smaller, lighter, and more simplistic. I probably have 10k rounds or more through Berettas with only minor troubles probably associated with bad magazines. I have about as many through Glocks with the only problems that I can probably contribute to ammo. New Glock mags are about as cheap as used Beretta mags with both being readily available. Holsters are common for both as well. I shoot Glocks better and most people do only because of the lighter, shorter trigger. Shoot them both if you have the chance; you will not go wrong with either.

Most people know the early, previously posted 26/27 with its smooth front strap between the groove as a 2.5 gen; although it is not official. The very first g29 and g30 had the numbs between the finger groove and then went to having the rail. People can never agree if the one pictured above should be a 2.5 or a 3, but that is what they looked like when they appeared in 1997.

Most officers don't even bother with turn signals anymore after the State of Tennessee v. Antoinette Feaster, 2010 decision.

No joke, I have seen a solar powered yard light mounted above a license plate before.

I have heard that to be true but I have never been able to prove or disprove.
