Active Shooter in PA Mall? (EDIT: Single shooting in mall)
Patton replied to GlockSpock's topic in General Chat
It appears th gunman shot one person and has fled the area. This appears to be nothing more than a typical robbery or attack against a single individual. -
Active Shooter in PA Mall? (EDIT: Single shooting in mall)

They aren't covering it now; hopefully it was a false initial report. -
One of my my buddies picked up a USA G19 a couple of years ago. Another friend that works for a three letter .gov agency bought a G27 gen4 through his agency (the only way he can carry a POW on duty/off duty). He was surprised when he say the USA on the side also.

Peppermint oil really does a wonderful job at masking the dead smell and deters rodents. However, it is somewhat pricey and hard to locate.

A 24 is gently like a puppy dog, especially with 180gr bullets.

I sold my Glock 24 for $500 several years ago and I was expecting to move to a G35. I wanted to use 35 for a duty weapon. For most people the primary reason to choose a 35 over a 24 is for certain competition categories. Otherwise, the 24 is a true target pistol. Other than a little extra weight, there isn't much difference in the two.

Any of you sold a house to a person with a VA loan?
Patton replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
To be honest, when I bought my house, my first and only one, the flipper actually acted like he wanted to deal with me over everyone else because it was a VA loan. I don't remember VA even inspecting it and I especially don't remember him having to make any repairs other than the one my private home inspector found. -
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v391/BDSBruce/Blog%20Photos%204/VelocityTestingResults_zps5a64c242.jpg It appears most 124 gr +p come up between 1050-1100 through the 9mm LCR. The LCRK appears to have 10% more velocity with similar loads.

They are closer than many will think, but given the ballistic by the inch testing you said it yourself: the barrel is a fixed breech. However, you would add an inch to their testing to find out what it would be out of a revolver. I have a 2.25" S&W 640 that launches the Federal 158 gr hydro shocks 1160 fps. The only rounds I can get to go that fast out of my Shield are all 115gr. The 124gr Federal HST are moving 100fps less. When you are talking revolvers only, a small 9mm LCR/940 are still a beast to handle like the .357. The LCRK or a 357 Smith are just a little more versatile. Moon clips can be a blessing and a curse. I have heard some say that a 9mm revolver loses a lot before it reaches the forcing cone and then the rifling. However, I have never found proof of that.

Knox County Homeowner Shoots Intruder
Patton replied to McGarrett's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
It's actually a fact that bothers me. You have perverts and stalkers that love to file information request. I will let your imagination wonder as to why they want certain information. -
You just can't go wrong with a Tacoma. My father has driven them for years and driven them hard. His 1995, 2.7 liter had 500k miles. I have owned two, and I only got rid of my last one because I wanted a new Wrangler. Yes, Tacomas cost a lot, but they are worth it, and you will not lose money it. I traded my 2013 in after 18 months/20k miles and lost all of $2500.

I won't argue that, but I have never known Glocks to be that inconsistent one gun to the next. However, M&P's are notorious for inconsistently be different one gun to the next.

I have no issues with the Glock 42; I have shot one. However, .380 ammo is only slightly more available than 22lr. I mean finding ammo, much less self-defense ammo, is a challenge. I don't think I could justify anything over $400 for a Glock 42, especially since you can find a Shield for that.

The businesses would probably have ground.

When I went through the armors course several years ago we were told the G22 was the most common in the US. Next was the G21 or the G19. If Glock knows they are not willing to release the numbers and choose to keep it secret. While the G17 is the most sold Glock in the world, it is not as common in the US. While the G22 does appear to be number one, we have a large .357 Sig following in our state. We still have departments adopting it. Since Georgia State Patrol dumped their GAPs for G17 I will be curious to see if any of the other Georgia departments go to 9mm. I only know of a couple that have 9mm south of us.

Edited with updates.

I have been setting aside a $1000 for a 610 to cross my path. They are hard to come by. There were a few 3rd gen autos with 4.25" barrels. The 1086 and the 1076 are the most desireable.

I would love to sit around and cast 1k bullets and load them in one day, but I can't justify it when my job is forcing me to work overtime and I would make enough to buy twice that amount. I do however reload until I have had enough on my free time. I also can't neglect my daily chores or justify skipping the gym to reload since I am at a time in my life where I have more money than time.

I have seen it too much. To include some 1911's in duty holsters, and when I asked about it they told me that was department policy. No thanks, I would carry something else if hammer down was the 1911 carry method.
-
It will not end up there without the user putting it in the halfcocked position. Most likely it will occur by thinking that you have uncocked the hammer. I don't know why you would carry wit a hammer down anyway but many people do.

The Perfecta is at least $10 a box around Chattanooga and the two stores in Knoxville that I checked. I have bought about as much as I have reloaded over the last couple of years. I mostly buy hollow points and shoot my stash of FMJ. Once all the FMJ, that was my SHTF stash is gone, I will probably only shoot what I can reload. Truthfully, with "free" lead I probably can reload 9mm for less than $3/50 even including alox and electricity.
-
Without shortages as an equation you can reload 9mm considerably cheaper than you can buy factory ammo. The trick is to buy in serious bulk. I cast with a friend sometimes, but my time is too valuable to really cast all the time. This friend recovers about 90% of the lead that he shoots. If I shoot enough to buy 8lbs of Bullseye ($150) and 10k primers (300) I can get around to it costing about $4/50. Otherwise, I am at about $7/50 buying bullets. If you are not able to recover your brass then forget about it. Here is the important question: how valuable is your time? I can work an overtime shift and make enough to buy twice the amount of bullets as I can make in that same twelve hour period.

I think I had heard that at one time, but my memory is slipping in my old age; I was born in 1980.
