I actually was referring to the combat grips. They are actually hard to come by unless you buy them from S&W direct.

I have the exact same grips on my 642. However, I still prefer the Uncle Mikes Combat Grips that are rubber and about the same dimensions.

Back in my full-time LEO days I never harassed, nor had any friends who harassed over window tint. The only thing to keep in mind is that if you are involved in a serious motor vehicle collision it could hinder your case into proving your innocence. Example: you pull out in front of a motorcycle and the rider dies. Preliminary investigation reveals your forward, front side windows are up and your tint is too dark at 15%. Luckily for the person investigators were able to determine that the motorcyclist was speeding an egregious amount.

I wouldn't push it. The biggest, most knowledgeable 1911 fan that I know says no 1911 is capable of nuclear 10mm loads.

Having owned a 3" k frame in 357 and many compact Glocks, I can say that they carry about the same and are very comparable. Any +p 124 gr 9mm out of a Glock 19 should give you at least 1150fps. The 3" k frame with 125gr magnums should be at least 1400 fps. The projectiles are relatively the same. When talking snub nosed revolvers and sub compacts, you may close the gap to within 100fps. More than likely though you still have about 200-150fps difference.

Those numbers are correct. In general, a 4" barrel .357 mag revolver has always produced about 550-600lbs of energy with 158gr magnums. A 3" barrel produces about 10% less. Normally a 1250fps in a 4" and 1125fps in a 3" revolver.

Standard sights on a duty weapon?

Your home got burglarized and they were gone before you got home; that is the good news! It is extremely dangerous to unknowingly interrupt a burglary in progress. Everything in my home can be replaced with the exception of my family. You need an alarm if for no other reason to let you know it is safe to enter your home. Deterring them or sending them fleeing after the initial alarm sound is just an added benefit. Yeah, dogs deter criminals too but they don't call police, are often hurt, shot, or pushed out the door. Don't forget to have your street address clearly visible for police and first responders. Criminals case-out houses that the police will not so easily be able to find. I even know of one cop who had criminals try and convince him he was at the wrong address.

Yes, it is easily replaceable. Any gunsmith should be able to do it for you.

I have pocket carried 90% of the time over the last several years. While I have done a G26/27, I find them slow to draw. To be honest, my Shield carries well in the pocket, but it is still a slow draw. The reason I have went back to a j frame is because I can draw it much quicker and I like the heavier trigger. I have handled a G43 but I have not shot one. I do like the way it feels, and everyone tells me it is just a bit snappier than a Shield because it is lighter.

One of my my buddies picked up a USA G19 a couple of years ago. Another friend that works for a three letter .gov agency bought a G27 gen4 through his agency (the only way he can carry a POW on duty/off duty). He was surprised when he say the USA on the side also.

Peppermint oil really does a wonderful job at masking the dead smell and deters rodents. However, it is somewhat pricey and hard to locate.

A 24 is gently like a puppy dog, especially with 180gr bullets.

I sold my Glock 24 for $500 several years ago and I was expecting to move to a G35. I wanted to use 35 for a duty weapon. For most people the primary reason to choose a 35 over a 24 is for certain competition categories. Otherwise, the 24 is a true target pistol. Other than a little extra weight, there isn't much difference in the two.

To be honest, when I bought my house, my first and only one, the flipper actually acted like he wanted to deal with me over everyone else because it was a VA loan. I don't remember VA even inspecting it and I especially don't remember him having to make any repairs other than the one my private home inspector found.
