    That was a bargain.
  2. ^ He is correct, the freezer is the trick to getting a proffesional looking cut.
  3. I did the Planet Fitness thing with the wife just so I would have somewhere to work out at in the middle of the night during my off days. I kept my regular gym membership because I had been there so long, it wasn't expensive anyway, and because I needed a hottub and pool. What I did not like about Planet Fitness was that it was so cheap you had some real trash working out there with you, the lockers get broken into at least once a week, and they don't actually want people who want to workout. They want people who will pay for a gym membership the will never use. I really got the unwelcome feeling. They do have a gun buster sign but I still have LEO creds. However, I will not leave my wallet nor a weapon in the locker room. I wish I could work out like I could years ago, but time has caught up with me. I take too long to recover and my back is in terrible shape. Machines and medium-light weights is all I should do. I still enjoy the muscle soreness that comes with a good workout.
  4. That changes things. The LE/FF pricing through a LE dealer is $329.99.
  5. I buy some on eBay occasionally if it works out to less than $2/lbs with shipping.
  6. I remeber seeing them at Sportsmans Warehouse for $359 over the weekend. Never mind, I really thought that they had a store in West TN.
  7. GT's is full of 45gap ammo and it is on close out. FMJ is about $15/50 and 200 gr Gold Dots are $19/50, but they are not sure they will continue to stock gap ammo once it is gone. When they had the GA State Patrol trade ins for less than $300 I came real close to picking one up with a lifetime supply of ammo. I find the thick slide the worst part of the gap pistols.
  8. You didn't see to many fixed blade knives. Generally they went into storage after about the first month. Sometimes you would see a rescue cutter or folding knife attached to the Molle or IBA. I do remeber a few 5-6" blade looking knives attached to the drop leg holster for the handgun.
  9. I don't think the GA store will sell a handgun over the phone or Internet. It is FTF only. Ironically, They add TN sales tax when you try to buy other stuff online though.
  10. You pay the Georgia sales tax. The tax and transfer on a gun $397 is right at $50. So if you buy a gun that is $400 at GT's you actually save from buying it in TN for $400.
  11. As Trekbike said, 750fps is about the minimum for 180gr but I don't think you even need to go that low. I haven't loaded any in a while but I seem to recall 5.5 gr of Power Pistol functioning without issues and having no recoil. I didn't chrono them but it was supposed to be 800fps.
  12. Interesting, I wonder how hot of 45lc ammo it can handle. I really wish S&W would make a 45lc/45acp kind of like that; a Governor with a short cylinder. Well, discussions about the 45lc only version discuss them handling Ruger only loads.
  13. I sold my XDS with 5 mags and had just enough to buy the Shield w/ 2 mags. I prefer the Shield, and I am a Glock guy.

  15. The probability of one wearing body armor is greater than you may think. If they can get it, they will wear it. Trust me, it is not hard to get. I am not worried about a shotgun with 00 stoping them with armor on though.

They show the model 57 still in production but I do not know if it is available anywhere.
  17. Unfortunately, bullets jumping crimp and bullet setback are a concern with powerful rounds and light revolvers. To top it all off, the tapered shape of the 9mm make it all that more vulnerable to both.

GT's says they have sold more 10mm Glocks in the last 2 years than probably in the 10 years prior to that.
  19. The biggest failure I have seen over the years with autos that wasn't operator error was magazine failure. If you don't have a backup magazine you have a single shot handgun. I have seen a couple of broken firing pins on Sigmas and a couple of broken extractors.
  20. I had issues with Berry's 124 gr plated bullets in mine. Other than that, 115 gr Fiocchi was all that I have tried. I have some 124 gr lead that I need to try, but I have dedicated 9mm Glocks so it doesnt get priority.
  21. How about Alien Gear?
  22. Unless it is already wore out I don't think you could afford enough plus p ammo to wear it out. To be honest, I wouldn't try to refinish it. There are a lot of "Smithophiles" like myself that just like a true original.
  23. Dude, I wish that 610 was mine! I have some serious cash for anyone who has one like that.
  24. Your right, just send me all those undesirable smooth cylinder Smiths. Any three inch barrel Smith will be a highly collectable and desired piece. However, you often pay dearly for them. The fit and finish of a GP100 will not compare to most Smiths, but you don't pay for it either. Rugers are fine pieces for what you pay for them. I will say that the GP100 Target Match and Wiley Clapps I have seen actually have some of the worst finishes of all the Rugers.
