  1. I have been completely separated from the US Armed Forces for over five years now. During the course of my eight years of service I saw more and more service members getting issued and trained on handguns. The reason is because on a deployment the POGs don't want to carry around rifles everywhere. Ironically, most of the ones who need them like the infantry and artillery don't get them. On a deployment you do not see too many Marines with handguns. I would say more than 50 % of soldiers, sailors, and airmen are walking around with handguns on deployments. While the Beretta is the most common handgun, you still see a lot of 1911's, Sigs, and Glocks. As a MP in basic training during 2002, we received about a solid 40 hours of time with the handguns. I hear they get a little more now. On active duty we averaged about 400 rounds a year through the handguns. I did a combat pistol course in 2006 that was a little over a week long with a mix of Berettas and Sigs.

I know a guy that put them on his Shield and they are amazing. On my Glocks I can't justify spending double over factoy Glock N/S.
  3. We have had one on our systems since I was a kid.
  4. I don't do Facebook for all the obvious reasons. I used to keep a picture of a girl that lived across the country on my dash hoping that if the turds were set on targeting my family they would exhaust themselves looking for a girl they would never find. My wife knew this and was ok with it.

    Glock 43

As a very happy Shield owner I will not bother to replace the Shield with a 43, but the 43 is a nice piece. If you can get a 43 on the blue Label discount it makes sense; otherwise I have seen Shields for $339. I have not actually shot a LC9s but there is no way that the trigger improvements over the D/A LC9 help with the snappy recoil. Not that it matters but the finish on the LC9 can not even compare to the finish of the 43 or Shield.

    Glock 43

Yes, the 43 is rated for it.
  7. Somethings to consider are that city ordinances can present problems when law enforcement try to enforce them. The last city I worked in I could not arrest for a city ordinance because our judge was appointed and not elected. It was only an issue when the refused the citation or refused to show for court. They were able to put liens on property if they refused to show or refused to sign. If it was a moving violation that was a city ordinance I don't know what we would have done. Another thing, I could only cite for a municiple code if I saw it happen. When the fireworks or guns were up when I arrived, even if they admitted to it, I couldn't cite.
  8. You talked like it was a deal. How much are they at Walmart? I need an inexpensive 22lr.
  9. I know in her PI days she carried a Sig 228, but I doubt that is what she carries in her purse.
  10. I didn't know they had two models of the edge connector. The one I felt had a Kahr like trigger; it was a consistent 5-6lbs the entire pull.
  11. The Edge connector really makes the 43 shine making the trigger a consistent pull from start to finish.

    10mm?

I don't think it is strange to have multiples at all. One of the more respected LE range instructors got on a tangent one time about having no more than two platforms in your arsenal. Congrats to to both of you guys on your new 10's.

    10mm?

    What is it?

    10mm?

There are a lot of guys that own a 20 or 29 because they are 10mm fans, but yet they despise Glocks.

    10mm?

I have never shot a 29 but I have owned a G20. I can say that the 20 was very mild; almost as mild as a 23/19. I couldn't imagine a G29 being worse than the G36 or g27. To be honest, I don't think I have ever heard anyone say that a 10mm anything has brutal recoil. It's kind of like magic with soft recoil and massive energy. My complaint about a 29 is it feels top heavy, but unlike the 30 it needs the heavy slide. The 20 is a lot more proportionate, but I understand getting the 20 for $400 is not an option. Yes, I would buy it if I were you. I have studied even the G29 and is more effective than a 4" .357 magnum with the standard 158gr load against creatures in the woods. With the 10mm loaded to the intended potential you have a slightly heavier bullet, with more speed, and a larger cross sectional density than a 357mag, and still you have more capacity with less recoil.
  16. Sorry to hear that. I have two friends that I have lost to suicide from PTSD related to experiences in the GWOT. I consider them, and your friend, just as much of a casualty as those that die in theater.

    Sig P228 at AIM

    That was a bargain.
  18. ^ He is correct, the freezer is the trick to getting a proffesional looking cut.
  19. I did the Planet Fitness thing with the wife just so I would have somewhere to work out at in the middle of the night during my off days. I kept my regular gym membership because I had been there so long, it wasn't expensive anyway, and because I needed a hottub and pool. What I did not like about Planet Fitness was that it was so cheap you had some real trash working out there with you, the lockers get broken into at least once a week, and they don't actually want people who want to workout. They want people who will pay for a gym membership the will never use. I really got the unwelcome feeling. They do have a gun buster sign but I still have LEO creds. However, I will not leave my wallet nor a weapon in the locker room. I wish I could work out like I could years ago, but time has caught up with me. I take too long to recover and my back is in terrible shape. Machines and medium-light weights is all I should do. I still enjoy the muscle soreness that comes with a good workout.
  20. That changes things. The LE/FF pricing through a LE dealer is $329.99.
  21. I buy some on eBay occasionally if it works out to less than $2/lbs with shipping.
  22. I remeber seeing them at Sportsmans Warehouse for $359 over the weekend. Never mind, I really thought that they had a store in West TN.
  23. GT's is full of 45gap ammo and it is on close out. FMJ is about $15/50 and 200 gr Gold Dots are $19/50, but they are not sure they will continue to stock gap ammo once it is gone. When they had the GA State Patrol trade ins for less than $300 I came real close to picking one up with a lifetime supply of ammo. I find the thick slide the worst part of the gap pistols.
  24. You didn't see to many fixed blade knives. Generally they went into storage after about the first month. Sometimes you would see a rescue cutter or folding knife attached to the Molle or IBA. I do remeber a few 5-6" blade looking knives attached to the drop leg holster for the handgun.
  25. I don't think the GA store will sell a handgun over the phone or Internet. It is FTF only. Ironically, They add TN sales tax when you try to buy other stuff online though.
