  1. I have never owned a 1911, but one time when I asked a guy that had about 100 that i was in the Army with what he would recommend. He gave me a complete history lesson on 1911's and pretty much shared everything he knew. This is not what I asked him but the only thing I remember him saying was, "Kimber's are pretty and Taurus' may be the best $500 youll ever spend".
  2. A block of Sandpaper will do it. I always thought about setting a old hot iron on it to flatten the little nibs.
  3. It's part of the Incovenience Package. They all rattle.
  4. Remember if it's +P ammo to make sure your gun is amde for it.
  5. I have seen Speer Lawman 38spl +P but there FMJ for 10.99 a box at GT Dist. I have three boxes of them.
  6. I know that but I have yet to find an in expensive 32 round.
  7. I would imagine a 5 shot 45 would have to be the same thickness as a k frame. I like haveing a gun for every caliber but most don't. People always say consolidating all to 45 or 9mm. it would be easier to reload all 45 though.
  8. 6 shots instead of 5 in the same package does appeal giving the 38spl +p almost 357 ballistics. Ammo wouldnt be cheap enough to shoot a lot though.
  9. ^These are all great points. I personally would like to have a jframe size revolver in 22lr just for practice.
  10. Mark I'd value that 686 at a little over $500
  11. No, I've got notes from your mom.
  12. I am not really familiar with the Taurus version but I will compare it to the others. First the Caliber is a great one but I don't really see an advantage over haveing a 357, ballistics are very close to being the same. Second moon clips can be a bleasing and a curse. Third the fact it is ported can help with recoil but the flash at night will hurt your night vision slowing your follow up shots. I have heard some accuracy suffers with ported barrels but you may never notice. I would be all over it if I had other guns in 45acp otherwise I would get one in 357 so I could shoot less expensive 38spl out of it. The 4" barrel may make it a little heavy for carry.
  13. Join the club.
  14. Dude, I dont see any gold on that thing! Walmart has those for $96.37
  15. I had a B I'm pretty sure. I got it for a little over $250 new from GT Distributors, Academy had good deals to. I could not find any hollow points that would cycle, only FMJ. I traded it off. I too was sold on the last round slide lock back but realized how that was a stupid selling point(compare to a revolver)

First for Armed Guard I strongly recommend a 9mm because of its wide acceptance by most all guard companys. A 38spl 4" revolver would be a great choice to. I would stay clear of the Hi Point being due to to the fact you may never find a good belt holster for it. You stand a good of a chance being shot with your own weapon as any other. Don't make it any easier for them, I would be more concearned with my holster retention than the firearm brand/size. I would prefer the Glock for many reasons but a lot of companys say it has to have an external mechanical safety and the trigger safety doesn't count. Sometimes a used XD can be found cheap but still not a mechanical safety. A lot of guys carry the P95 Rugers, but I would look for a $350 Beretta 92 or a $300 Smith and wesson 5906 or similar model. Sigmas are cheap and I have seen lots of firing pins break on them anywhere from 20 rounds - never so you never know. Stay clear of 1911's they are very frowned upon in the Armed Guard industry. These are not my opinions but what are the facts.
  18. Value for them is around 600 used and is one of the best values in 1911's.
  19. My Father in law who was a avid sportsman and gun collector can't load his own magazines any more after a stroke, racking the slide is possible but takes 100% focus. You cant go wrong with a revolver for her.
  20. The first 1911 I ever shot looked just like that one, accurate and very reliable. My friend had me sell it fior him. I should have bought it for myself.
  21. ^I couldnt have said it any better. That is a very low demand gun, but there is always that one person trying to find that gun out there.
  22. What gen is it?
  23. Where did you buy one at?

    S&W Model 59

Isn't this the same magazines that Keltec p-11's will accept?
  25. Glock, hands down! I would own another Sig if they werent so over priced. Major weight savings and slimmer profile than with the Sig 229 as well.
