  1. I looks like they will be priced the same as the .38 LCR which is a few hundred less than the S&W 22 revolvers.
  2. They probably won't make them in 22mag because they can get about the same performance out of quality 22lr. I'm trying to get 60gr aguila's for my 22lr Naa Mini. My biggest complaint about a 22lr for self defense is the less reliable rimfire ammunition.
  3. I have to share the fact the first homicide I ever went to as a police officer was with 1 shot from a 22lr.

If you look at the 5.7 and what it really is(a rifle like round) you wouldn't go there looking for bear with a .243, .308, 6mm so the 5.7 is still know where adequate. I have hunted deer with my 44 mag and have always thought out of a 18" barrel that it's about 30-30 equivalent. So I believe anything equivalent or under 44/30 cal/.270./10mm yada yada yada is strickly about the amount of hits and the quality of them.

I recall some of the damage a 5.56 done to some of our living targets in Iraq/Afghan and being shot with even a 5.7 makes me cringe.
  6. It's unusual for them to relaese before SHOT Show.
  7. I thought it was just a matter of time. I want to start the first "Is a 22 LCR enough for self defense" thread.

That 5.7 does make you scratch your head. I think he had a under $600 price range.

And be able to shoot for that matter.

Bear spray they say is kryptonite for bears and is a must. Anything over a 44mag unless really heavy is going to recoil so bad that you may not get many shots off. Suprisingly there have been many successful stories of Police killing bears including Kodiaks with 40sw, but why not go bigger?
  11. Just trade and dont worry about since you know him. If the BATF wanted to though they can find out who the origanal owner was though but its about unheard of for them to persue criminal charges for something happening after a transfer. The only case I ever heard of in TN was the one of the chick in Nashville who bought a handgun to kill her NFL Qtr back boyfriend because he knownly sold to a felon. Just trade and if the BATF ever asked, and they wont, you sold it to ....

You might need to check laws on carrying High capacity handguns where your going and find out if you can carry FMJ ammo or if it has to be HP, Lead, WC etc...

If a Glock is going to have a reliability issue you will know it in the first 100rds generally. Limp wristing isn't too common on Glocks in my experience. I have had it happen one time while i was trying to deliberately do it and it was with a sub compact off hand and I almost dropped it I was holding it so loose.
  14. UPdated with Millan PD and Jackson PD

I would feel very comfortable with 16 rounds of 10mm fired at a charging Grizzly even if only 5 hit center mass.

I was getting ready to recommend the Rugers.

BTW I recommend a handgun on a bear hunt only as a Back Up.

Honestly in that price range a used Smith 44mag is what I would get. If you could find a 41 mag it is the min for grizzly but would work. I just don't know that I would trust a Taurus with that much PSI. How about a Glock 20 and have some money left over?
  19. The best 380 on the market is a 38spl jframe or LCR. Yes, I said it.
  20. The LCp does not lock back only the TCP.
  21. I decided there was no perfect 380 so I got a classic j frame and I have never looked back.My friends p238 sig has too heavy of a trigger for my liking. I would rather have a lighter long trigger than the heavy short trigger of the sig. I also think the SAO of the sig makes it a lot less desireable.
  22. The bodyguard has had a few reliability complaints and the laser isn't as good of quality as CT.
  23. I had a LCP and was happy with it and as far as accuracy I was confident I could handle a threat within 21 feet. I never had a reliability complaint.
  24. The 38 is not the same size as the 23. The grip is the same but the slide is as thick as the 30 which is the biggest complaint I have on the 30. Some holsters will interchange and some will not.
  25. Hey wondering if anyone has used the Black Hawk Serpa for a Jframe? I am thinking about a holster with some kind of retention so if I want to open carry in plainclothes or in police uniform to and from work i can just slip my back up to my primary more comfortable. There's not many retention holsters out there for a j frame and the serpa is about the closest other than just a pancake with a thumbstrap.
