  1. Oh, hey make sure you get a newer one with the cuts in the cylinder allowing the hammer to sit between loaded cylinders.
  2. Mine is insanely accurate. I am still thinking about selling it though. I got the 22lr with the 1 1/8" barrel but wish I would have gotten the longer barrel. I can't carry it off duty as a police officer per SOP.
  3. How about this, the LCR may be the first gun Ruger has produced in the last 20 yrs that hasn't had some kind of recall.
  4. Yeah about perfect, I short stroke the hell out of the trigger. I actually let a coworker whos a Cop and a Glock hater(he carrs a G22) borrow my SW 642 and he complained about the missfires when he short stroked the trigger. I can't imagine what he would do with my LCR.
  5. Just like everywhere I have ever been.
  6. If the officer disarming you to run a check is your only complaint you'd be the best laugh my Chief has had in a while. The truth is most people in government at a local level think guns are taboo and that police can do what ever to get guns off the street. We have a commisioner that thought it was a federal crime for someone to carry a firearm into a bank. Most Chiefs and Sheriffs no matter how conservative at one time go the gun control stance when they make it to the top. Just remember all the Chiefs and Sheriffs that were against Bar/Park carry Bill. I am probably one of the most carefull not to violate a Constitutional Right officer around here. Imagine a Terry Frisk if you will. I can't tell you how many officers I have seen say, "let me pat you down". "Oh wait whats this? Where did you get this weed?" I say this because I have had supervisors ask me why I didn't.... Just because they can sleep at night after a violation of a constitutional right doesn't mean I can. I had a classic text book case of a search with the Alttoids can which I am not really supposed to open but 99.9% of officers open it. Closed containers are supposed to be a no go unless the police allready know whats inside. This is where a gun case is a gun case.
  7. I do remember a Case Law on the books where a person had a weapon in there vehicle and when the police went to grab it the person stopped the search, but the courts ruled once the Police have seen or know a item is there they have a right to seize for a reasonable(?) period of time for an investigation. Does anyone know which case? I thought it was Arizona vs. Gant but it doesn't sound like what I remember but it may have steemed from it. Edit* As it turns out I just had a lawyer friend call me and say it was Hicks v. Arizona that was in the back of my mind. Courts ruled police can not remove a object (stereo) to see a serial number. Another point being if your weapon matches the description of a missing, stolen, or believed to be used in a crime weapon then police have full authority to investigate. No official court ruling has been made on police running your serial numbers because "they can". Obviously Police can disarm anyone during a stop but it is in question if they can for "no reason" run serials. It has been declared that police can not stop you just to run a serial number. The big question is during a Officer Safety unarm can they, whats funny is the Lib's think they can. Conserv's argue it's a form of gun control.
  8. If all you have to hide in your vehicle is weapons then you would be better off refusing a search. A explosives dog will hit on ammo, but thats another scenario. If you refuse and that rifle case is in plain view then I am going to search whether you like it or not, if I have reasonable suspicion that is. If I don't have reasonable suspicion I really don't care that I do see it. Now, if a rifle case is locked then I have to have a warrant to open it.
  9. It all comes down to what a officer articulates. I stopped a speeder on opening day of gun season wearing blaze orange with a rifle in the front seat. I saw no reason to believe the weapon was stolen nor had he commited a crime with the weapon. However several years ago I stopped two guys for speeding wearing mostly all black and they each had a semiauto in their waistband. Both weapons came back clear but we were able to link other items as being taken in recent robberies. If I had not found the handguns I may not would have found the other items.
  10. The Supreme Court years ago declared Probable Cause is not needed just Reasonable Suspision. Like I said a infraction and as opppsed to suspiscious activity wouldnt fly for me to search.
  11. ^OS, you are correct. It never hurts to have evidence to support your claim of not knowing an item was stolen.
  12. And expect about a $30-$40 fee which includes the TBI Check.
  13. Did your parents not warn you about buying items that may be stolen when you were a kid? If you got caught with stolen merchandise it would be up to you to prove your innocent in court, which depending on other charges and circumstances is not too hard to do. As for a police officer searching your vehicle neither give consent nor give them a reason to PC for a warrant? I stopped a guy for speeding with a rifle in plain view during opening day, I knew what he was doing so I "just wanted to make sure it wasnt loaded for my safety".
  14. I think I'm opening a can of worms. I'm answering this kind of vague but, it has been determined allready that during a traffic stop or even a casual stop on the street an officer has the "authority" to investigate as covered in Terry vs Ohio and also search for weapons. Remember a stop should have reasonable suspicion if not probable cause. During a stop your 4th amendment may be temporarily voided due to the fact you have commited a crime and may be detained for investigation. This holds true for even a minor traffic stop because a citation is a legal summons and is isued in lieu of arrest. I have never been one to even come close to violating a constituional right so for something like a tail light out I would not run serial numbers.
  15. I see this done around here very often by officers and I couldn't believe the it the first time a 14" Poulan Chainsaw came back stolen. I have ran firearm serial numbers before on NCIC but have gotten away from it because it normally comes back with anything thats close.
  16. Military! Well, you cant beat the value of a LE Glock for $398. If you dont like Glocks then thats another thing.
  17. There not for me but they are pretty good guns.
  18. Well, here is a start The M1911 Pistols Organization Forums Site - Auto-Ordnance It sounds like the last personally owned firearm I would have taken to Nam.
  19. It appears they are probably the worse 1911 ever made.
  20. Disregard I remembered it's a boycott.
  21. Makes me want to pass out flyers in the hood about the sheep that will be standing outside starbucks that day.
  22. Yes, the year is what I would question. I haven't looked at the picture, but I would question slanted serations.
  23. I actually think there was Thompson Auto Ordnance 1911's but I don't know about the year. What were you questioning about it?
  24. Springfield LDA? When did this happen?
  25. Dude, get with the times. Be a good Christian and tell him $250 is the most you can pay.
