  1. It's probably not worth more than any other caliber of brass. The only brass I have ever bought was 38spl for $20/500 so I would say $50/500 at the very most. I'm not saying you should buy them for that but that's what a 357sigger might give for them
  2. To be honest I shot lead through my Glock 24 long before I heard not to and it never made a difference.
  3. Well, the break in doesn't bother me. I would try 200rds to check for reliability any way. I am actually going to pass on it anyway.
  4. I have one and honestly it's a great handling, light reliable gun. It was my Grandfathers(he's still alive) but I would not pay the $600 they bring to replace it. It recoils hard enough you would think it's 30-06 level of power but I'll tell you it's not. It's fine for killing deer under 200yrds. The advantage I see is that 44mag is a great reloaders round. I would rather have a Mini-30 as I feel it is a truly universal rifle thats somewhat similar.
  5. I got a trade offer on my XD9 for a unfired CM9 with an extra magazine. Being that ~10% of Kahrs get reports of being returned is it worth taking a chance being a second onwer. Shooting it first is not an option because I asked. He wants to keep it unfired.
  6. Semi-related story, One day I was with three friends and one of them said stop at this next store and let me get a can of dip. As we are pulling in I see the typical pan handler and told my friend," walk straight up to him and ask him for a dollar". So my friend goes straight up to the guy and ask. The bum had the most bizarre look on his face and said, "Buddy, I was getting ready to ask you the same thing". I have used this once myself and it throws them so off guard. I normally step back and throw my left hand up while reaching back with my right and say, "I can call a ON DUTY officer to come talk with you and thats all I can do". I look so much like a cop they say no man I don't need any trouble.
  7. Not my longest shot but I have hit a 1'x2' target with a 22lr NAA Mini at about 75yrds. Everyone including myself was impressed. It was one shot out of the five.
  8. Warthog may be slimmer than a PX4, I would say either one is at least twice as thick as a LCP. The CM is as close as you can get to a LCP. I would say the PX and the Warthog are as thick or thicker than your XD.
  9. With $500 to spend I might still recommend the Kahr CM40, it's close to the smallest .40SW made. If you think you can handle 357 mag a .357 LCR is a lot for a little package. Just about everything mentioned so far does not have a mechanical safety but a long trigger pull.
  10. Great suggestions but neither is close to $300, maybe if it's not a true S&W Jframe but a Taurus or Charter Arms.
  11. Well, the $300 is what has got me stuck. I'm not a Taurus fan but they do have a single stack slim .40 that just by chance does have a mechanical safety. I'm sure you have thought about XD SC and baby Glocks, and your probably wanting smaller. There is a new Kahr CM40 out but it will be closer to $500. You might find a Keltec P40 but I'll tell you they are rare and only about 5% smaller than a baby Glock. Could it be a revolver? You could get a Taurus 327mag which performs pretty close to 40/357mag levels without awefull recoil.
  12. No Ammo, which Serpa fits a SP?
  13. Forget the SP101 for pocket carry, it's just getting on the verge of being too heavy. A LCR is a very easy to carry reliable piece. I think the advantage of a revolver is one can become proficient with it with less range practice. I have practiced drawing and reloads in my living room.
  14. I have some of those orange boxes at the house. I can look when I go home, but I think I still paid 30ish for 50rds. Get you a Lee Classic Handloader and you'll pay for it the first 100rds
  15. 22LR 32ACP 38SPL(5) 9MM 40SW
  16. What no one owns a 327?
  17. I can also vouch for only using quality brass ammo. I like J frames and own several, but my Pf-9 may have actually been a better defense weapon. I would have kept it but needed something small and quick so the PF-9 got saccraficed.
  18. To stretch a holster before i have put sock over the gun and shoved it in the holster. Let it sit for a day or 2.
  19. I dont see anything wrong with a PK 380 but understand there are 9mm out there that are smaller and more easily carried. More importantly a 9mm/40 are a lot cheaper to feed.
  20. I just got my Anniversary kit. I'm pretty pleased with everything. The Scale may be the disappointing part but I new better than to expect a lot from the primer tool. I was going to gat a Lee Automatic Primer but they were out. I just can't seem to get the scale perfectly balnaced to even start with but I think it's close enough. I plan on getting a full set of powder dippers to help. I' m only set up for 38spl at this point and my cost looks to be around $7.25/per 50 so I don't know that 9mm would be much worth it for me. These prices are based on buying everything off the shelf at Sportsmans.

    FN 5.7

I've been on a range with some but I didn't get to shoot them. If your looking for a advantage over 9mm+p/40/357/45 all I can say is capacity. It is a accurate shooter with mild recoil. It has found its way into the Secret Service's arsenal and is poping up on a few police agencies.
  22. I also like a Glock 26 as much as a Glock 19. Just get the one you like the best.

Doi yourself a favor and spend ~$150 more and get a Ruger 44mag Redhawk or Blackhawk.
  24. Nothing wrong with a 9mm as your only handgun. You cant go wrong with a Bersa either if it fits you and your wifes needs.
  25. Well I'm not a 1911 fan but one of my good friends lives for them. I asked him one time the same question and didn't get too specific of an answer. I remember him saying the Taurus 1911's are impressive to be Taurus'. Some Rock Islands are good and some are not. Springfields have made a lot of people happy and so have the S&W's. I remember him saying stay away from the imports with the exception of one made in the Philipens that isn't too common. These are mostly all in your price range. I also remember him saying Kimbers are pretty and then smiling, thats about the only thing good he says about them.
