  1. ^a officers ignorance of the law is how many of them get relieved or in civil trouble. I see it as a citizens right to notify or not of there HCP and legal carry of a firearm. I just find it as curtousy to notify me and I may in return find there infraction a random incident. I treat everyone as if they have a weapon on them so I m not really treating HCP holders any different.
  2. As of today I have never written a ticket to someone who made mention of there HCP.
  3. Your right. I actually thought I edited that after I posted but this Forum format is terrible. NCIC is almost used as police jargin for running anything.
  4. I may not have been clear in my other post. When a dispatcher gets a tag and runs it on NCIC it comes up on a screen that gives the RO's name, address, date registered, expired and general vehicle info. When I run a plate on Tennessee's DOS website I get a picture of the RO, DL info, HCP info, address, their signatures over the years, their photos since 1995, and a few other things. I often run them both ways. I would say 9.5 out of 10 HCP holders(that are drivers/RO's) I know about on a traffic stop. I would just assume they not tell me they have a HCP as I treat every vehicle as if it may have a weapon in it anyway. It's not the HCP holders I worry about anyway.
  5. Your right as far as NCIC which is what most dispatchers run the Tag through but I often use TN Crime Portal which is the TN DOS website. It shows your DL photo and all info when I enter a tag. I do this because it shows if the R O is suspended or revoked. I often do both NCIC and the DOS with the DL. If systems are working, which is about 95% of the time now, I always find out if they have HCP.
  6. Well, when you say SE TN are you talking all the way to Chattanooga? There are several In Chattanooga. GT Dist has some of the best deals you will ever come across. Used 3rd Gen Glocks start at $339. I almost bought a mint SW 6906 for $379 the other day. There in GA so they transfer to a Pawn shop up the road for $35 but you pay cheaper GA tax
  7. The victim and shooter were both SF operators in the same unit. Here is what I'm hearing: Both soldiers were roommates or neighbors. Benjamin Schweitzer shoots Moses Moses walks to a neighbors home and the neighbor calls Police for a attempted burglary. Police find Moses and follow the blood trail to the scene of the crime. Unknowingly the four officers go into the house only to get pinned down with gunfire upstairs. One of the officers takes a 45 round to the upper arm but is doing fine. Officers that responded use CS Gas to get Schweitzer out of the house.
  8. http://www.theleafchronicle.com/article/20120316/NEWS/303160036/Fort-Campbell-soldier-charged-homicide-Clarksville-shooting?odyssey=obinsite Officer appears to be doing well but the SFC Dies minutes later.
  9. I have made notice of that before as well. It's vodoo how the XD9's hold so many compared to the Glock and vise-versa for the 40's.

    bond arms

If I remember correctly a Bonds Arm derring weighs about the same as a Glock 26.

    bond arms

Well, there a cool toy. I don't feel comfortable with only 2 rounds for defense before I would need to reload. You are so much better armed with just about everything else out there. Those derringers weigh about the same as a 357 Snubby that have 2.5 X the capacity. They are well built and reputable. The recoil is hard but doable.
  12. Yes, if your going to conceal go ahead.
  13. Pipe cutter is the preferred method. I have never understood the need for a barrel less than 18" for an extra $200. I have thought about a Serbu Shotgun which only needs a AOW $5 tax stamp. Just cut it at 19-20" as you you will never know the difference. Unless its used as a breaching gun, the pistol grip is about the most untactical setup one could want.

    Smith&Wesson 5906

Oh, and one more thing. Reliably boring!

    Smith&Wesson 5906

Great guns, the only draw back being they are a little on the heavy side. A lot of Glock holsters I have laying around will work with a 5906. I had a 915 which is very similar and I should have kept it.
  16. Being there is a size difference between those two and the 40 being the same size as the 9mm, the 40 conceals a little better. I personally prefer the 45m&p over just about every other 45 made. I'm like my 40's in glocks but don't care for any of the 45 Glocks.
  17. The DPD Glocks are one of the most common. I've seen a few 2nd Gen 23's also stamped Detroit PD.
  18. They are being faced out for Sig 229 40's and i believe they are the DAK. Homeland Security is going SIG across the board. I can't remember if DEA falls under DHS but they still are majority Glock. Actually this revolves around what becomes of the poor CS Sig has given The Air Marshals over the P250 that never really made it into the field.
  19. If your from Benton why are you driving to Shooters Depot to just pay more than you would pay for the course at Fugates?
  20. I have always heard that H&K's were built around the 40SW catridge unlike most others being built around the 9mm cartridge.
  21. The Airman eventually left the Air Force and went to work for the Border Patrol. Last that I heard he was a marksmanship trainer for Dept. of Homeland Security.
  22. I'm sure it's GT's they have some 3rd Gens for 339 I think.
  23. I'm not starting a caliber war but I prefer 40SW. In my testing it out performs. I have not always felt this way but what l\ed me to this was during a training course the instructor made some very persuasive points about the round and it had nothing to do with capacity.
  24. This is exactly what I saw to. I went into Walmart only to see several boxes of 357sig. I told the guy I would take them. He looked at me like I was crazy and didn't know what they were.
  25. Ok my friend told me he has bought them online for $50/1000 delivered. So that appears to be the going rate.
