    New toy...

Yeah the XD and the M&p use the same upper for compact and service models.

After many failed attempts I am not a 45 guy either. Let me throw out there that lots of 5 and 6 shot revolver guys carry lightweight (13-15oz) duarable(reliable under all consitions) guns that are often cheaper than $550+. The two carry revolvers I have are often carried as back up guns or carried with a speedloader in the pocket. My dad has a revolver that the rounds have been stored in it for 10yrs. Would you store a XD for 10yrs and expect the mag to feed in a emergency? People carry revolvers when they want simplicity and people carry autos when they want capacity. Historically 6 rounds is enough for a civilian self defense shooting but when your situation comes do you know how many rounds you will need? XDS' will sell but I don't think they will break any records. I may even try one myself.
  3. Correct, Welcome to H&K ownership.
  4. If I were you guys that can't carry at work I would have a LCP velcrowed under the dash or clipped up under the seat. Regardless I would have a deeply stashed firearm somewhere.

    Think it's worth it?

I feel very little similarity between a G30 and a G19/23. The 30 feels too top heavy and I so badly want to like them. I am a huge fan of 9 and 40 Glocks so I find the G36 more familiar to me. I would pick up a M&P 45c if the deal were right. S&W doesn't offer as good of a deal to Law Enforcement as Glock does so I have a hard time justifying paying retail for M&P's. Some of the country's largest LE supplies stores have dropped S&W's from inventory due to problems in negotiations. I had up until a couple of days ago a Kahr CW45 that was rediciously accurate but I let it go because of difficulty shooting reloads. I also think the XD Compact is a fine handgun I should have bought one when they were send 3 additional magazines free. Some of the 3rd Gen Smith autos are supposed to be great 45's as well as people speak highly of the SIG 245 and 220 Carrry.

Discontinued now but looks like a Glock 29 with the 9rd magazine.

Wow! It only took about two months for them to appear.

I always thought the 10 round magazines for the 30's were stupid. I never could find a 9rd flush fit when I had my G30's

I believe buying OD's to be collectors is over but it's a good deal. My Glock collector friend believes OD 29's and 30's are the least common, especially without a rail. This is according to him. I personally can't stand 20/21's and 29/30's.

I never had an issue with the grip safety either. I at first was excited about the XDS but it's news has worn off. I honestly feel so much better armed with a subcompact 9/40 like a G27.
  14. I'm going to be nice and say as long as your happy. I believe that is my old Glock that I sold a couple of yrs ago after trying for several months to sale it. I don't remember the serial number but it was july97 test fire date. I personally can't stand a Glock 30 and I later tried a G30SF to only be displeased as well. I never could get used to the heavy thick slide. I'm really tempted to build a 30/36 hybrid but I'm thinking about getting out of shooting 45's all together. I'll keep the one I have now but stash it away and quit relodaing for 45. I will say the 30's were very accurate and never had a failure.

Let me throw something else at you. The Kahr CW45 is about the same size and lighter. Great trigger, I did the mag follower replacement to get 7+1 out of the factory mag. I also have a flush fitting 1911 mag for it. I'm not the worlds biggest 45 fan but the Kahr CW45 has filled the needs of a slim 45auto for me. It's been flawless with 250rds of factory load fmj. Had some initial problems with cast LSWC but bumping them to max pressure fixed it. The mag follower change cured all the problems with the LSWC so even bunnyfart loads perform.
  18. I've owned two Taurus' one was good and one was not. I've had 6 Keltecs and all have been perfect out of the box. Bottom line is if I buy any gun I'll test it before I rely on it. My father in laws Judge has had several weak primer strikes with .410. Might be the ammo though.
  19. Seams a little on the stout side.
  20. If this is the Trooper I think it is these may have been grandchildren or not even related to him. Sad no matter what but this is about the third incident of children and guns to come out of that community in the last year it seams like.
  21. Nurse requested we leave our weapons in our car since they have there own "security" EDIT: deleted some because I wasn't be very nice.
  22. Training, no! Something's adults should just know. It has made me think about my own home a little more. I don't think there's been a child under 10 here since I moved in but I may need to reevaluate some hiding places.
  23. Who would shoot a hot chick breaking into there house?
  24. I suspect that ~20% around here do carry. Open carry for these would be a mistake. Some psycho would snatch it away from them. I think every EMT that I know who carries has a LCP in a pocket, I know a couple that had a JFrame before a LCP.
  25. Carry deeply concealed and don't ask don't tell. ER room nurses are the worse to cry At the sight of a handgun. They don't even like having cops in there with handguns. Ask me how I know.
