    New Rugers

So S&W can put 5 shots of 44 mag in an L frame but Ruger can only put 44 specials in a gp100?
  2. Haha! I mentioned Jane Fonda to a very intelligent but uppish neighbor who can't be over 25 years old, and he swore up and down he had never heard of her. Talk about someone, Fonda, who has dropped of the face of the earth.
  3. I have a CVA center fire rifle that is everything the Handi Rifles should have been. Mine was less than $200 new and is ten times the shooter that I am. I bet someone that was a precision shooter could clover leaf a target at 200 yards with the right scope.
  4. And she is damnding $15 an hour.
  5. My grandfather had a 4" 34, but I didn't care for it. In fact, neither did he. I sold it for him a couple of years ago. I would love a 3", 9 shot 317 though, go figure.
  6. I too have been eyeing a LCR in 22 over the last couple of years. I have seen two priced for $350 used; I should have bought one. The trigger is stiff but it has to be. If you don't mind a single action the NAA revolvers are fine little pieces. If money is not a concern you can't beat a S&W 317.
  7. My trail gun is a S&W 60-10 and is my favorite .357. Many people call it a mini-686.
  8. David, I have never understood the M&P's triggers varying so much one gun to the next. About one in ten will have a fabulous trigger straight from the box. For some reason all the Shields tend to have a somewhat nice trigger.
  9. That is not a surprise to me at all. A cousin of mine that works for Atlanta said they couldn't hand their M&P's in fast enough. Scores were higher with the M&P's for the most part, but reports were they were some of the most finicky tools imaginable.
  10. Another option is to do an audio recording of the sale by just putting your phone on video and saving the whole thing in an email in case your phone breaks or is lost. I have went on a knock and talk with the ATF, and they were overly satisfied with just getting copies of the emails between a buyer and seller.
  11. When I was a cop, I had a coworker who later became my chief of police who was scared to death of clowns and spiders. He would always put in for vacation during Halloween.
  12. I don't think the timing is right for a handgun. They are missing out on the 10mm market that has has a resurge over the last few years though. They have also been missing out on very popular lever guns; pistol caliber lever actions are in demand. Based on the timing and the discontinued bolt action 77's I feel it is another bolt action gun. The Ruger Precision Rifle has been popular with people on a waiting list. I almost wonder if it couldn't be something based on the Precision Rifle.
  13. I have seen a reproduction of the classic 5" model 22 for $700 recently. It was a deal because it had a lot of extras. I have also seen some slightly modernized, to where the have lost collector interest, pre-model 22's for around $500. One had been shortened nicely and parkerized; I almost wished I would have bought it.
  14. Model 25's are hard to come by at reasonable prices and are a much heavier gun. If you go to gunbroker you can look for some S&w 325pd. But if weight is not a factor Ruger makes a 45lc/45acp Redhawk now.
  15. It's hard to take a Dremel to a $500 gun, but a 17 chopped to take G-19 magazines has always made me have to adjust myself.
  16. When my wife worked in a bank branch she used to tell me about $60k SUVs on 24's that came in the first of every month to deplete their account of the recently deposited welfare checks.
  17. You almost have to try them both for yourself. It really can be a matter of personal preference. I always thought the G19, or other compact Glocks, were the cat's meow. But when I went to a department with Glock 22's I actually found that I like the fullsize frame better. The 22 is the exact same dimension as the 17 but in 40s&w. I liked the fullsize for a lot more than capacity. The balance, finger grooves, and the slide length for malfunction clearing all outweighed having to conceal it.
  18. It is kind of a jack of all trades, but a master of none for sure. I have researched them a lot. As far as scandium S&W's go, they are priced reasonably well. The black models appear to all have a Big Dot Night Sight, but the bright stainless does not. I can't think of a more versatile in caliber handgun in production. I read a professional review the 45GAP rounds were the most accurate of all the factory ammo tested. They will not close with 45 Auto Rim cartridges and are not intended to shoot anything over standard pressure. I wouldn't run 45 Supers but I would think 45acp plus p would be fine as it is about the same as some standard 45 Colts. Ruger only loads are completely out of the question. The free-bore of the long cylinder does cause some velocity loss, but I remember reading that it wasn't near as much as I would have thought. I have shot a judge, but not a governor, and find the shotshells really penetrate poorly; even the specialty handgun rounds. The shotshells also leave you feeling really dirty after shooting. I do like the judge with 45 Colt rounds though.
  19. When my wife was an F&I person at a car dealership she had a lender that did third party leases. She rarely used them, but what was interesting was they required, in contract, that the lender's license plate remain on the front unless law required a registered plates on the leased vehicle. I never heard of them doing anything if the plate was removed, but it was stupid anyway. Unless you worked in car sales you didn't know what the bank even was. It was Fifth Third, and I just recently read of them doing a considerable downsizing.
  20. The Lodge factory is in South Pittsburg just outside of Chattanooga. They do have an outlet at the factory, but I don't know how the prices and selections are.
  21. They are two guys, Eric and Gary, who are extremely smart conservatives.
  22. A little off topic, but I listen the Red Eye Radio podcast from the live show the night before.
  23. All the officers that I have talked with have a fairly positive experience with the P320. A trusted source told me the guy who shot the demo gun after him had several failures of FTF, FTE, and failure to lock the slide back. It was determined he did not have a strong grip and also others have experienced issues with limp wristing. The most disturbing failure was a failure to reset and the rep couldn't fix it.
  24. They normally have some interesting stuff, but I have found better deals next door at Smokey Mountain Knife Works.
  25. Sadly, the old 22's and 23's have to be destroyed per federal law and can't be traded. There is a way around it, but it's not easy. The federal agency I work for has destroyed hundreds of nice duty weapons. Oh, I also heard from other feds that the p320 was wanted and they anticipated getting them. However, they just weren't all that reliable when it came down to it. Funny since they went with a gun that wasn't in production yet and proved problematic once delivered.
