  2. Mike that is another beauty, I'm going to have to get a photo on here to show the damage this new law has done to me. I've been fascinated with autos since I first saw "The Magnificent Seven". I never even handled one now I have four (binge buyer). Enjoy. Joe W.
  3. Ok I'm going to quit procrastinating, I'm in #57 if we get that high again, if not I won't be picky. I would at this time like to cast my vote for the Pearl button.       Joe W.
  4. Just got mine a little while ago, this blade is a beauty. Carry it yes, abuse it no. Most of my daily cutting is done with a Gerber EAB they are real easy to sharpen. Thanks Willes very well done.     Joe W.
  5. It's here :woohoo:
  6. I have one of Gary Fong's firstLightspheres, they work great. http://www.garyfongestore.com/featured-products.html   Joe W.
  7. Nice knives, your Dad,s going to love it. Joe W.
  8. This is great news, very glad to hear it. You know you've set all this up, you're going to take the shipment repackage it, redistribute it including special attention to those of us who ask for our pick of serial numbers. This is just a job and I have say again THANK YOU.   Joe W.   P.S. And fielded all our questions.
  9. Thank you very much, I didn't doubt the quality details like that just nag at me. Since I posted the question I have been doing a lot of reading on it including Crucible's web site. My Pro-Teck Monaco is 154CM, and takes a wicked edge. The CPM154 is suppose to be the same steel except it's made with Crucible's powdered steel process making it finer grained and can get a bit harder in heat treatment. BTW I just repeating what I have read, no expert here. Thank you for taking the time to ask, and thanks to Dave for taking the time to answer.   Joe W.
  10. Ok everything together looks great, I was a little startled by the handle alone. I am curious about the blade steel, I thought as it says on the Pro-Tech web site it was suppose to be CMP-D2, D2 was mentioned some in our discussions. I understand what CPM (Crucible Powder Metallurgy) means but am curious about the difference between CPM-D2 and CPM-154, and the change in this case. Joe W.
  11. Like Mike said lots of folks like the Sharpmaker. I once could put a real good edge on a blade with bench stones but arthritis and lack of patience because of it has left me screwing up to much. I have Arkansas stones, DMT guided diamond set, tried an older Lansky. I did not like any of them. I even tried setting my oil stones on a ramp at the proper angle so I could hold the knife flat, worked pretty well but was still hit and miss.  When I got the Edge Pro I started on a knife I had lack luster success with on the DMT and in 30 about minutes the edge looked like a mirror and I took a little skin when I tried to shave a little hair from my arm. HTH.   Joe W.
  12. The kit came with the stop collar, quick change spring, and Platform Magnet. Liking it a lot, after getting the blade stropped some of the hair arm on my just went ahead and jumped off. I've wanted one for sometime, and it's turning out to be a good choice.   Joe W.
  13. Beautiful blade Willis.     Joe W.
  14. I've always liked the though of auto knives but never tried to get one because of Tennessee laws on them. Now that the laws have changed and the group buy started it's all I can think of. I bought a Schrade Smedy to try and hold me over, I set and fire it a few times watching TV. Get a lot of dirty looks from the little woman that way. Well the Smedy helped but could not contain the lure of new toys. To start I decided I was not going to run a Pro-Tech across my belt sander so I bought an Edge Pro from Chefstogo.com, it's there essential set with Shapton glass stones. http://www.chefknivestogo.com/edproesset.html Does a great job quick. Then I'm surfing the web just looking and come across this and could not stop myself. Pro-Tech Monaco/Tuxedo. Blade is 154CM TI coating, 3.4 long, .110 thick. weighs 2.4 oz. From what I can gather it is a discontinued model, found it at PVK. He had two, this one and a plain black one. Got it for $160.00. I'm not buying anything else till August, barring a catastrophe I will be in on the Godfather. Please let the Rockeye come early. Joe W.
  15.   If you haven't yet paint the bevel with black Sharpe and do a couple of strokes and see if you're  grinding the edge or the top of the bevel. As you say you may be re profiling the edge.
  16. You keep this up I'll be a ProTech exclusive customer. I won't have money for anyone else's knives. I do want to see the price when you get a chance but who am I kidding I'm weak. My first vote would be for the Tuxedo satin blade. Looking a bit farther into the future you had mentioned possibly the Godson after the Godfather. I would like to see the TR-4, or maybe the Newport next. By the way this is good stuff Willis, thanks Joe W.
  17. Hey MacGyver  I hate to complicate things but if we don't make it to #57 I would like to speck for #17. Thanks
  18.   This, but you left out chisel.
  19. "I guess that was the long way of asking this: What am I gaining by spending more for this knife than another, especially since I plan to use it on a regular basis?"     It all comes down to what you want, I like knives. This will be the most I have ever spent on a knife and it will be what I call a dress knife. My dress knives never see work because if I need to take a hammer to my blade to get the job done it happens. This isn't the model I wanted but I still want this knife. From your post I don't think you would gain anything. On the other hand I gain something I want :woohoo: .   Joe W.   P.S. If I only bought what I needed I wouldn't have crap to play with.  I have 4 safe Queens, three were Father Day gifts, and the forth is a Samson boot knife my Wife gave me for Christmas 25 years ago (I keep the finger print off of it).
  20. I'm in,#57 if it gets that far. If not you pick it. A big thank you to all making this happen. Joe W
  21. Seems to get some good reviews.   http://www.bladeplay.com/item--Black-Lightning-DA-OTF--396 http://www.bladeplay.com/cat--Concord--178
  22. If I am not able to afford the TGO knife Willis is working on I'll be looking at this,  http://www.cutleryshoppe.com/sogspecialtyse-61speceliteiiautomatic-40satinfinishclippointplainedgeblade.aspx but it will not be my EDC. That title goes to Onterio RAT model ones, I'm on my second. The third is on a shelf waiting for it's turn to be abused. Broke the blade on my first pry barrin it.   My first auto will be my dress knife like my SOG Ageis is now. A Sunday go to meetin knife that you can get you shave with before you go.     Joe W.
  23. If I am able to do this I want #57. I was born in 1957 and I turned 57 in January, seems fitting. Joe W
  24. First off Thanks Wills, all three are good looking blades. I am tentatively in also. For a work knife the LG101 would be great, but for a commemorative TGO and our knew knife right law I would like the TR4, then the Godfather.    I think Willis may have spoiled us with three possibilities though. So how do we pick, the least expensive, Poll, or since this is his baby let Willis chose the name? My vote would be to let Willis pick the first.     Joe W.
  25. Go to your local hobby shop and get silicone oil, works for all types of air guns. Also check out http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/ the yellow forum. Air gunning can become an adiction. Air Arms TX200 Barnett Spitfire QB78 Tanker Falcon FN12 Crosman (Benjamin) Marauder Pistol .22 Crosman (Benjamin) Marauder Rifle .22 The bottom three are PCPs so I also have scuba tanks and a shoebox compressor. Before I developed RA in 2005 I shot competion in AirGun Field Target. They can be as adictive as any other gun. Joe W
