After a previous shortage, I made the practice of purchasing more than I shot on each trip to the range. I expected another shortage but not this severe. Much of my practice is now with a laser target system.

During the last 20 years i was required to wear Flame Retardant clothing in chemical, refining and fuel industries. Carhartt was my choice for the majority of that time due to fit and quality. If my size doesn't require a change, it will be several years before my supply is worn out. As I don't need FR any longer, price will become a factor. I'll probably see what is available at Costco or Sams.

I raised a litter of dalmations years ago. Of 16 puppies only half survived birth. A friend of mine raised a litter of great danes. We enjoyed our dogs but as a business we both found it to be unprofitable.

I recently had a fellow member of the State Guard mention needing primers. I let him have a 1000 for $35 -the price I had paid when I bought them. I did the same for someone needing .22 earlier this year. I could have easily made a few dollars, but it was some of the excess I had accumulated during times when prices were reasonable. As I'm not shooting as frequently as I did in the past, my supply will last until I don't need it. I didn't purchase with the idea of reselling. I just didn't want to ever be caught short of what I need.

I haven't seen a RIA on the shelf in quite awhile. Most of the models I'd be interested in purchasing have become difficult to find lately. I did get a laugh when I saw a used Raven in a counter with a price over ten times the new price of $15 or 2 for $25.

I have two 10mm pistols, a Dan Wesson Bruin and a Springfield Armory TRP Operator. Both have been excellent pistols. My only issue with them is finding ammunition.

Who Here Has A Generator, And It Saved Them ?
tnhawk replied to billt's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I've had a 10k generator for backup power for about fifteen years. It's been needed less than a dozen times. It gets started and run briefly on a regular basis as it is powered by gasoline. I had to replace the battery a few years ago but otherwise it's been ready when needed. I also have a small honda generator when portable power is needed. -
Glad to hear of the quick turn around. I have several SA pistols and rifles and all have been excellent in reliability and accuracy. Their customer service was a factor in my repeated purchases from them, although I'd yet had a need to return anything to them.

My choice would be a .44 mag and a 45 acp

Still lagging closely behind chicago in murders while claiming the crime rate is down. The current mayor and city clowncil are no better than in the past years. Now there is concern they have been using expired vaccine for the shots.

I'm still using ammo I got from CMP several years ago. Saving all my brass knowing at some point I'll need to reload for it. The M1 is listed in my Hornady manual but not in the Speer.

Just when I thought that I didn't need another gun

In Basic Training the Drill Instructor told us we had a weapon and a gun....

Yesterday I went to get dog food, as I knew the weather would get worse this week. Roads were good but doors on one side of truck were frozen. Started both generators and ran them for a few minutes. There is no way I'd be on the road today. I broke my ankle on the ice a few years ago. I'm too old to go thru a repeat of that. It's a good time to open the safes, clean guns, inventory ammo.

Ten years later, same answer. Ed Brown has a magazine exchange program for 1911 magazines. All of mine still function, but I've got a few cheap mags I'll exchange for ED Brown mags at $10 each.

Ten years later, same answer

The 1911 is highly addictive. I started with a Colt many years ago. Now 2 shelves in the safe are filled with different calibers and models of 1911.

I purchased an SA Compact several years ago. It's been accurate and reliable using any ammo I've fed it. THe factory recoil spring assy hasn't been a problem to me. The pistol has seen frequent range and carry time.

Got to try my hand at reloading today
tnhawk replied to lock n' load's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I started reloading in the 70's thinking it would provide cheaper shooting. Quickly I found that I didn't spend less money but I got to shoot more. As time progressed, my reloads improved in quality. At current prices and availability reloading will save money until my supplies run low. -
My Ed Brown pistol has a preference for EB and WC magazines and doesn't like several of my other magazines. This will be a good opportunity to replace a few of the problem mags.
-
I've has a full size RI for several years and it feeds anything I put in the magazine. It has been dependable and accurate.

Even after getting a UPIN issued, I still worry when /if I will get another denial. I usually had multiple purchases and years between the denials. On the positive side, I'm not making many purchases since my retirement.
