  1. The web sling is suggested, but I don't think it is required. Your ammo will probably cost more than a GI style sling.
  2. I've seen a good selection of metal as well as tupperware guns during the last few months. Last year I could find many models of 1911s but often not the model I was looking for. This year the availabity of choices has improved. The stock of ammunition on the store shelves has also improved. I wonder if it's due to people having less available to spend or the suppliers catching up with the demand.
  3. My XD 40sc and G27 are nearly equal in most characteristics. The addition of the grip safety on the XD gives it a margin of safety the glock doesn't have.
  4. protection
  5. I've had tickets in TN as well other states that didn't get reported. Unless you've got a very good reason to convince a judge to dismiss it, why add court time and costs to it. After hours of researching radar and loosing a half day of work, I did get a speeding ticket dismissed for court costs. Savings (fine minus court costs) - $5.00. Gas - $14.00. Time off work - $136.00. Experience - priceless.
  6. Not much help as I'm across the state from you. A chronograph and digital scale provided major improvements in my reloading.
  7. I was working at the Comco range today and will be again in the morning. Unfortunately, I wouldn't expect the line to have any cover. I would bring plenty of water and ice.
  8. that might make a show!
  9. They don't even have a clue how far off they are! Memphis ain't even close to LA!
  10. I've been in Guns and Ammo many times. I've bought several pistols and rifles from them. They've always been helpful and polite. I can see that their competitors may not share that opinion! I was there a few days ago needing a small part. The gunsmith gave it to me -no charge.
  11. Wait till you see what a lawyer can do with it! And he don't need no buffing wheel.
  12. Nikonos?
  13. Possibly he is hearing the voices again!
  14. I've also been considering the LCR. Nice size and weight.
  15. welcome!
  16. A little time in another country will be good for her. Some time behind bars would be better!
  17. Glocks are easy to maintain, dependable and accurate at self defense range. However unlike a 1911, a glock is still a piece of plastic!

    Kahr

I've had a K40 for 12-13 years and other than a little wear from the years, it's a fine pistol. It was bought to replace a .380 which was not dependable or accurate. My expectations for the Kahr were much higher and it's met them. My wife didn't have any problem with the weight or recoil of it. That's why it's taken years for me get it away from her!
  19. I have a few .40 pistols but I prefer to carry a 1911.
  20. Memphis Sports Shooting Association and Desoto Rifle and Pistol (with 2 ranges) are the only ranges in southwest TN that could handle an Appleseed event. The Agricenter range was closed to the public due to the wisdom? of our local government. BTW, it'll still be hot in Sept!
  21. I have a G27 and an XD40sc. Both have been reliable accurate pistols. I took them to the range and shot them side by side several times, finding them overall equal. My wife finally made a decision for me and took the XD as it has a grip safety.
  22. I've had my TN permit, I waiting on the FL permit. Check went thru my bank today, so it shouldn't take long.
  23. I carry a SA TRP in a Horseshoe 22H holster with an untucked shirt
  24. Memphis is used as a reference point. If the location of Desota Rifle and Pistol Club is given as 50 miles south of Olive Branch, many will not know where the range is. About 50 miles south of Memphis offers a much better description. Last year some shooting equipment stolen at an Appleseed - it was near Lobelville, TN not Memphis. TN!
  25. Welcome! We're fortunate to have several ranges in the Memphis area.
