  1. Sams had a 10KW gas w/electric start for about $1000 several months ago. Motor was by Honda. They had a diesel model also, seems it was a few KW and dollars less. A 5KW is about the smallest I would want to have. I've found that as long as you have one ready to run, you never seem to need it.
  2. My first choice would be a 1911 in 45 acp or 9mm. The Beretta M9 may be a good choice as well.
  3. When asked a similar question while a coworker and I discussed a range trip, my answer was, "No one that didn't deserve it." The coworker said he hadn't but was willing to learn. Any way a meeting goes, you'll need another job. Good luck!
  4. Welcome and thanks for your service.
  5. I'll have to try it out next week.
  6. Save that .40 brass. I or someone else will be happy to exchange 9mm for it.
  7. A large number of police departments are using the .40. When I don't want the size and weight of a .45 my XD40, G27 or K40 are my choices. My 9mm has only seen use at a range, as it's larger and heavier than any of my .40 pistols. Each of these calibers has an effective use as a carry pistol. Everyone needs to find the one that works best for them and practice often.
  8. I'd add that most of the people you shot deserved it, but sometimes it was just because you didn't like their hair.
  9. When it's difficult to carry a .40 or .45, I've decided to carry .38 +p.
  10. I had an alarm system for several years but discontinued their service. My dogs seem to do a better job.
  11. I've yet to see a good deal in a pawn shop, but I don't waste much time in them.
  12. I've noticed a change in athe attitude of the counter employees the last few weeks. Also someone is trying to cut costs by shutting off the AC in the range.
  13. [quote name=Can you recommend other good websites that discuss springs and other aftermarket parts? [/quote] berettaforum.net
  14. Welcome! This hound had a few too many beers or may have hit the bottle of Crown
  15. weekends only?
  16. Think I'll have one now, maybe two:D
  17. Nice job. My back aches, just looking at that truck loaded with boards and cement.
  18. I'm looking forward to it and better tempature than the last one.
  19. A stunt like that would have probably resulted in a hospital trip, even if my wife missed with the pistol!
  20. I think victims are often picked because they don't remain alert to their surroundings and are seen as being weak, easy targets. The element of suprise can be an advantage, for the criminal or for the victim, depending on circumstances. Many crimes happen because the victims are completely unaware of their surroundings and therefore not ready to defend themselves. A weapon isn't much use when you're unable to get to it because both hands are carrying packages.
  21. I've bought several guns from RangeUSA, had others transfered thru them, all without difficulty. Most of the time the employees try to do a good job, but it does vary with different employees. I'm sure the owner expects better service from his employees than you've experienced.
  22. Desoto Rifle and Pistol Club may be an option if you like shooting outdoors. The old range is about 25 miles south of Memphis and is open March thru October. The new range in Como(about 50 miles from Memphis) is open year around.
  23. Searched job openings,on internet, applied for several. Worked in back yard, noticed that dog's electric fence wasn't working and repaired it. Went to handgun class at range and cut my groups in half, by improving shooting techniques.
  24. An Appleseed will be held on Sept 25 & 26th at the Desoto Rifle and Pistol Club at the Como, MS range.
  25. The victim reacted extremely well under the situation. I wonder how well I would have done. It's made me see that I need to work at improving my skills and gain additional training.
