  1. If I'm not mistaken what they are doing i Formula 1 is using pneumatic valvesprings, not using pneumatically controlled valves. You eliminate the chance of valve float by taking the harmonics of a traditional coil spring out of the equation. This allows for higher vlavetrain speeds. This is why it is used with a super short stroke which allow for lower piston speeds. At a given rpm the piston that has to travel less distance is moving slower. Slower piston speeds allow for a longer dwell time at tdc, and higher combustion pressures etc... All good things for increasing the power potential of the engine. Because horsepower is just a function of torque over time, the faster you can move the engine the more horsepower you will make.
  2. Somebody on Facebook started a page dedicated to stopping a mosque from being put in the Schermerhorn Symphony center here in downtown Nashville. They allege that there is a mosque set to open in the vacant Schermerhorn cafe. I know the Schermerhorn is facing foreclosure, but this seems a bit odd. Maybe just a Hoax Facebook page, I cant find the Tennessean article that is referenced. Anyone else heard of this?   http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=schermerhorn%20cafe%20mosque&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CCoQFjAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fpages%2FAmerican-Jihad-Watch%2F126718510717993&ei=mj_MUbTdEIvy9gTp0IGACw&usg=AFQjCNGuLNrih5OC5suwrzEGhjxWzllp8w&bvm=bv.48340889,d.eWU
  3.  I saw this video awhile back. This guy has the conviction and resources to develop something like this so it is marketable. Very promising technology.
  4. A good dog and a gun in the house. My pup wouldn't stop that guy, but would alert my wife and slow him down enough for her to have a chance to get the gun.
  5. I've had run ins with Rayburn. He's a good enough guy but can be a pain in the ass. Pretty big personality in the Nashville restaurant scene.
  6. It is the same issue, I've seen all kinds of stuff used to make infusions. Bartenders would experiment at home and make their own bitters then bring it to the bar to use in cocktails. Usually it turned out well, but who knows what herbs and such were used. Im on the fence with this one as it has become popular for bartenders to try this kind of stuff out. I just don't know if I trust every hipster that thinks he's the next "craft"cocktail local rock star. The other part of me thinks its mostly harmless so leave em alone.
  7. I used to work in restaurants and we always had a container behind the bar with vodka marinating with cherries or other such fruit. I think this may be what they are referring to. I'd never order that crap at a bar now but back then it was novel. Also once you've taken the liquor from its original container it was impossible to prove what it was or where it came from. So it's also impossible to prove whether the proper taxes had been paid on it.
  8. I have wanted to make it out there for years. I feel I might be dissapointed with all the traffic now.
  9. Yup, good guys there. And they've always got ammo in stock.
  10. I was just in Atlanta and ate at Holeman and Finch. They have an homage to princes once a week, and serve hot chicken on their menu. The hot chicken thing is spreading. As far as Nashville, Boltons Catfish is really good but, the sides always arrive cold. Nothing worse than cold collard greens. Pepperfire is a good one also.
  11. I would take my car to either Stephens body shop on Gallatin Rd (very popular with the BMW and Porsche clubs) or vogely and Todd.
  12. If you look at the pictures, you can see that all of the supporting ribs deform in the same way. Makes me thing that the ribs would have a memory over time and fatigue in their compressed state leading to an out of round situation. Maybe a solution to a problem that doesnt exist. Most modern tires are amazingly good at resisting puncture and maintaining traction. Speaking of traction, with a stiffer structure (needed to support the weight) I would think traction would be compromised. I'm no tire engineer and the guy at michelin get payed alot to do things like this, but I don't see much coming of it.
  13. Just picked up a sears diehard platinum (agm). They are supposedly made by odyssey. Car definately starts quicker and voltage doesnt dip below 13.8 even with a heavy draw.
  14. I'm going to speculate that he probably has guns on gunbroker so he doesn't want to quote a price on something that is being bid on at the moment. There are tons of ads from him on armslist, so I assume that he is pretty active on the internet. It sucks that he doesn't want to sell to the local buyer first, but he is probably getting outrageous prices on the net.
  15. We always referred to it as the dungeon. I kindve miss the smoke smell in gun stores. Although i also stopped going there when i was hit with a fragment. Mine hit my forehead though. I had to check my pants after i checked my forehead.
  16. I dont normally post here but i was so pissed at hearing this bull#### that i was going to start a thread. How the hell is this ok. Who with an ounce of intelligence believes a mentally unstable person wont kill with whatever means available. So stupid. Were the player unable to get a gun, he would have used a knife. Makes me paranoid to think that this is becoming the popular mindset.
