  1. Not really bashing just Rush or Beck. I'm bashing ALL of them, on both sides of the arguments. Naivete? Probably so. BTW... I told Phil Valentine how cool I thought it was when he stormed the state capitol over the income tax thing. Used to pass him in the hall every day.
  2. No I didn't, and I'm not going to go out and preach somebody else's interpretation of it... somebody else that probably didn't read it either. From my personal experience, I believe <something> needs to be done, but so does every member of Congress
  3. I'm not fond of the heater idea. The Remington dessicant dehydrator (the one you plug in to recharge) is made by Eva Dry, and they're much cheaper without the Remington logo. Won't need it in winter. Had mine for a couple of months, and haven't had to recharge yet. Portable Dehumidifier | Quiet Dehumidifier | Safe Dehumidifier | Small Dehumidifier
  4. In the mid '70's, I once bought a Model 19 S&W from the local Chief of Police, in a bar, in ILLINIOS, and we did it over a beer. Things may not be quite that good now.
  5. Problem is, there's so much crap being spewed by the media from both sides that it's disgusting. I've never been a fan of journalists, probably because I've had to work around them my whole adult life, but now, journalism is in the crapper. Too many people believe Rush, and his leftie equivalents, and don't take time to look at the hard data and decide for themselves. Most of these commentators are driven by ratings and big egos, NOT providing accurate analysis. I haven't read any detailed reports on the stimulus package, so I'm not qualified to comment. My guess is that most of the 75% haven't read one either. Most are going on what they've heard from some gassbag on radio or TV. We owe it to ourselves to get our data from the source, not from some media clown that picks facts just to fire up their base audience. I'm tired of being lied to by politicians AND "news" weenies. Rant mode off
  6. I have a few that have never been fired, not that I won't get around to it.
  7. Pie, Let me add some perspective. All the girls were on the pill, and AIDS didn't exist. Neither did the Brady Bunch. Viet Nam was the result of typical politicians, which were certainly no worse than the ones we have today.
  8. Tricky Dick saved my butt from Nam. Not a popular war, but anybody spitting on one of our guys around me would have wound up with a sore head.
  9. Born in '56. I remember being able to shoot my guns pretty much anywhere I wanted
  10. I have always believed that the mechanical tolerances of the hammer swing were much looser than the tolerance of the firing pin hole, so the pin has to float. All my S&W revolvers on the past had firing pins on the hammers. My newer Model 637 doesn't.
  11. I got something else from this video. Looks like the BG's put a lot of rounds into this guy before he was totally stopped. Makes me wonder how hard I would have to flog somebody with my mighty LCP before they stop shooting ME. As I ponder this, I'm sitting here looking at my 1911. Maybe small size, light weight, and abundance of cuteness aren't the most important things after all.
  12. Haven't tried these, but this geezer likes the idea... Clip on side shields for safety glasses, sideshields, permanent side shields, and other side eye protection from T.A.S.C.O..
  13. I have an LCP, and I guess it has its place. It's easy to hide, no matter what you're wearing. On the original topic... I took my girlfriend to Specialty Arms last week specifically to look at the PK380, 'cause it's a good girl gun. The guy behind the counter steered her toward a revolver, and I agree. We all settled on a Smith snubby with a steel frame, chambered in .357 (not so she could shoot magnum loads). Simple, manageable recoil, concealable. In the end, she decided she didn't want a gun at all, so I bought me a 1911. Life can be hard sometimes :-)
  14. You may want to look at the walther PK380 if you can deal with the size. Everybody says it's a soft shooter, and the slide is real easy to rack. If she doesn't like recoil, she probably won't like either of the KT's
  15. My company has a no gun policy too. I'm sure it came from Risk Management, Legal, or both. Doubt that it has anything to do with rights. It's like random drug testing (which we don't have). Policies like that can drop insurance rates and minimize exposure to lawsuits. I don't like it, but I do understand why it's there.
  16. I always wanted one too. In fact, went to buy a Colt many moons ago, and the S&W rep talked me into buying the new Model 59 instead. Finally bought a new Springfield last weekend. Haven't shot it yet either, but I will in the next few days.
  17. If your LCP jams, you may need to polish the feed ramp and chamber. Had to do it to mine to get it to feed reliably while racking the slide. The cartridge cases were hanging on the top of the chamber because of some fairly rough tooling marks. Won't void the warranty if done properly. I'm sure a long breakin would have accomplished the same thing.

    What are these?

The 336 was introduced in 1948, and they have sold a gazillion of them.
  19. Sorta looks like my couch last night. Don't have a chrome one, but my 1911 kinda looks chrome
  20. I have an Iphone too, but wouldn't try to do any serious admin work with it. My vote would be for a $500 HP laptop with a clearwire connection (or iPhone as a modem).
  21. If I had to bet my money, it's more about coordinating response to natural disasters and terrorist attacks. The devil is in the details. If he was trying to establish a dictatorship (like some of the media entertainers suggest), he wouldn't be so careful to make sure that the members are equally divided between Repubs and Democrats.
  22. The P01 has a decocker, and no safety. It's an alloy frame. I'm REALLY going to like it
