  1. Most manufacturers are banging these things out as fast as they can right now. For example, the Ruger LCP has great feedback from its owners. Mine had feed problems when cycling the slide because of tooling marks in the chamber. A breaking process would have smoothed it out, but I polished the feed ramp and chamber instead, just like THEY would have done on a more expensive gun. Mine was probably much worse than most. Still, it wasn't a design flaw, and Ruger would have fixed it if I wanted to go thru that hassle. It's great now
  2. I read the American rifleman article. It's disagrees with what I've read on the forums about several of the guns in the article. It's one guy against many
  3. The guy... Actions By T - Teddy Jacobson Pistolsmith
  4. I always liked the Colts best, but never owned one. Always been an S&W guy. There is at least one guy out there that does action jobs on revolvers, and gets high marks. I put a Wolff reduced power sping kit in my 637. Improved it some, but it's not like some of the great actions I've felt in the past.

I love my guns, and make sure that if it's with me, it's going to be very reliable. The odds of me having to use deadly force are pretty slim, and the odds of an all out gun fight are even slimmer. Not going to fault anybody for doing it... just my thoughts on managing the risk.
  6. I've been watching it since it was announced. Actually went to the gun store to buy one and fondled it. Walked out with a 1911, but the PK is still on my list. From what I've read and seen... Pro's: Nice shooter, real nice fit in the hand Reliable, locked breech design. not blowback like most .380's Slide is easy to rack, low recoil for a .380. Great girl gun. Cons: It's big for a .380 Slide does not lock open Requires a take-down tool

Ditto. If I was an LEO, I would be worried about it. I'm not. If you gotta though, I agree with the list above, but may put the revolver first
  8. They always have AK's and AR's at specialty arms in La vergne
  9. THE HOLSTER STORE |
  10. Mine too, which means they're armed
  11. A couple of posters have suggested finding a used third generation S&W, and that's exactly what I would do. We can argue 'til the cows come home about the merits of the new $300 pistols, but the 3rd gen is not a $300 gun. personally, I wouldn't be afraid of a 1st or 2nd gen either if it was in real good shape. All three generations were used heavily by law enforcement in their day. My model 59 (1st gen) is still one of my favorite pistols.
  12. Looks like it's some old software. Latest OS supported is XP in classic mode.
  13. GunTracker 2.4 for 2004
  14. We use something like this in commercial service, especially on uplink dishes. Didn't drill down to look at pricing. Satellite Dish Covers
  15. Yep, the person that thought of this is now a senator from illinois.
  16. Sorry, that was kinda selfish. Uh, I meant Alabama :-)
  17. Light dusting of snow here in the Priest Lake area, but if you look at the radar, the tail end of the storm is still in Oklahoma. I'm just hoping the bulk of the ice stays south of us.
  18. Got over a half bottle of Booker's, a little milk, and a little bread. Bring it on!
  19. I should say that I like him personally. Never listened to his show much. He was just always a nice guy, and easy to work with.
  20. I like Phil too. Pretty respectful guy for somebody that's packin' all that ego (which they all gotta have to do their gigs). Haven't seen him for a few years. He moved on to another company.
  21. Really comes down to how often you want to recharge. i bought the small one because the big one is kinda heavy. If you get the big one, you may want do get a wally world extension cord so you don't have to hang it in a wall outlet when you recharge. I don't mind buying a second one if the first one is too small. Right now, it's sitting in the room, and still not turning pink
  22. The Ruger LCP gets high marks. I have one. Nice fit and finish, real small, reliable. It has some kick
  23. The Eva-Dry uses Silica Gel. The benefit is that it changes color when it saturates. AFIK, it's the same stuff the safe dealers use in the cloth bags, but there's no indication with them. You can bake the water out of them when they saturate, but you won't know when unless you keep a hygrometer in the safe. I'm a cigar guy too, so I've been watching humidity for awhile. My humidors need more water in the winter months because the humidity drops in the house. So, my dehumidier in the safe will need more attention in the summer months. Haven't had the eva dry long enough to know if it's even big enough for summer. May need more than one
