  1. I haven't shot any hajis, but I certainly support the effort .
  2. I believe that. At 800 yds, it's still moving about 925 ft/s, and the energy is around 100 ft lbs. (standard 55 gr .223). FWIW, the .308 has 580 ft lbs of energy at 800 yards. I'm sure their loads are probably better than Remington .223 ball ammo, but there's only so much you can do. I can also see why the author didn't give to 5.56 credit as a long range caliber.
  3. Yep. 5 minutes older http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tennessee-politics-legislation/36977-right-carry-ban-proposed-belle-meade.html
  4. My apologies if it is. Just hit my inbox.
  5. I don't think they can do this, but from NRA-ILA... Right-to-Carry Ban Proposed in Belle Meade! Please Stand Up and Make Your Voices Heard! On Wednesday, March 17, the Belle Meade Board of Commissioners will consider a proposed ordinance (Ordinance 2010-2) that would forbid any person with a handgun carry permit to carry within the city limits. Not only does this legislation create a victim zone inside Belle Meade by disarming law-abiding citizens, it is also a clear violation of Tennessee’s preemption statutes. The Board of Commissioners will meet at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Belle Meade City Hall located at 4705 Harding Road. Please make plans to attend Wednesday’s hearing and voice your opposition to Ordinance 2010-2. If you are unable to attend, please contact the Mayor, Vice-Mayor, and Board of Commissioners TODAY and respectfully urge them to oppose this illegal and ill-conceived proposal. Contact information can be found below. Telephone: 615-297-6041 Fax: 615-297-0255 Gray O. Thornburg, Mayor gray.odwonline@comcast.net James V. 6. Probably counting on that data from the IRS.
  7. Fist time i saw this story (been awhile), I didn't use snopes. The story is total BS. As I recall, it had to do with Emminent Domain around their embassies only (or something that benign).
  8. Not talking about hitting something. A .223 should easily travel that far. I'm talking about having enough energy left to kill a human. The paper states that the maximum useful range for that is 200 meters. The M14 in .308 is a whole other animal.
  9. Don't you mean M14? the M16 is an AR15. Will a 5.56mm even break the skin at 500 meters? I read the paper.
  10. Do you have a link to that info?
  11. That's not what I'm saying. The rules for that range are published, and I read them before I ever stepped on the property. Those RSO's spend a LOT of their time enforcing those rules because people either don't know them, or intentionally break them. I'm saying... spend a few days doing that, and your fuse may get a little short. I can understand how some folks may not like the rules. If it ever really gets to me, I'll throw on some Kevlar and hit the Cheatham shoot-'em-up. Right now, I'm pretty happy not getting shot by some goober's brand new Glock. If somebody was totally disrespectful to me, I would chalk the first time up to having a bad day. The second time, I may have a talk with the guy that runs the place (nice guy).
  12. I carried a lot in the '70's (small town). I knew most of the cops, and they knew I carried. Their rule was... If you discharge your firearm in the bar, I'm gonna slap you with this stick. I never got slapped.
  13. I do. Cold weather sucks
  14. I wonder how crabby most of us would be after a couple of volunteer Saturdays.
  15. This is an old thread. Didn't the OP pass away a couple years ago?
  16. So... this was all about Jenny?
  17. Maybe they don't like spinners, or maybe you just encountered a dumba$$. My goal is a range behind the house. Can't do that now... may accidentally hit that barking dog. I understand all the rules at Stones River, and put up with them because they accomplish something.
  18. May remain a mystery forever. I would think that they would require all trajectories to be into the berm. Sounds like the other guys wasn't doing that either.
  19. Maybe that angle would allow your bullets to clear the berm?
  20. If you want outdoor scenery... Sedona. the Grand Canyon is cool too. IMO, best from a chopper.
  21. My HCP instuctor took me thru several of those drills before we went to the actual qualification. His point... it's likely that those skills will be helpful in a real encounter.
  22. From what I've heard and read, we have our very own Tard range in Middle Tennessee
  23. It's one of the published rules. Loaded guns on the firing line only. I left my carry gun in the truck. That rule doesn't bother me either. They're just trying to keep the place safe, not dis a permit holder.
  24. I had a model 36 around the same vintage back in the '70's. The official word was NO +P, but they never broke the gun. The folks I knew at the time practiced mostly with standard pressure, and carried +P. That's what I did.
