  1. BTW... wasn't bad mouthing Double Star at all. I have one of their lowers. You can just spend a lot of money tricking out a basic rifle. Just been seeing some good values in used, upgraded rfles these days. You won't go wrong buying that Double Star... until magpul disease sets in .
  2. If you're in a position to get credit, I doubt that it matters which party. No conspiracy here
  3. You can get something like this for a little more money, and it's a LOT more rifle. It sold yesterday, but it's a good example of some of the deals I've seen lately. Seems to be a buyer's market right now. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/firearms-classifieds/54144-fs-spikes-dsa-carbine-w-magpul-fde-moe.html
  4. I HATE skunks. Been attacked before.
  5. Two things. 1. PA is well known for their customer service. 2. You know you're gonna have to pony up eventually. You know what I'm talkin' about
  6. They make flourescent dimmers. Get your wallet out. Personally, I plan to rebel. Leviton 1200VA Commercial Grade Mark X Fluorescent IllumaTech Dimmer - IllumaTech Switches - Leviton IPX12-70X EDIT: Some tech, from what little I know. There is a voltage threshold, so the dimmer can't modify the peak voltage. A flourscent light actually flashes, so you have to modify the ON time of the flash. Requires more complex wave shaping than an incandescent, which only cares about how much power you give it.
  7. Yep, shell game
  8. start another parking lot thread ... or we can do it right here. If you encounter a skunk in the parking lot, and he raises his tail, can you bust a cap in his ass? Or, is it your duty to retreat?
  9. Oh no. Just saying it is accounted for in the package. Benefit packages vary widely between companies, and even within companies. Then, they vary from year to year because of skyrocketing health care costs. The 7.5% is a small part of my package.
  10. One good thing about these open carry threads... it has made me think about it a lot. I can see both sides, at least. There are a lot of places where it could get the desired results, and other places where you can count on having a problem. Those of us that wind up venturing into Liberal territory a lot are obviously going to be less likely to support it than those that never have to be exposed to those folks. There are parts of Nashville that I just won't show a gun, because it's not worth the reaction I'm going to get. There are other places that are perfectly fine.
  11. Sure, and they don't expect to get contract labor for the same rate as their hourly employees. My company sent out a "how much you really cost us" sheet one time, and the 7.5% match was listed.
  12. I'm pretty sure the IRS will come after you for SS too, since it's revenue. BTW... they seem to enjoy it :-)
  13. Employers calculate it as part of your compensation. The gov takes the 15% in your name. It's real money, and it gets accounted for.
  14. You have obviously never tangled with the IRS. I'm an expert at that. Before you refuse to pay, you can do something to prepare. Make sure you don't have any assets of any value. It's really that simple. They probably won't throw you in jail... they just take all your stuff. Oh yeah, the 1099 thing... they'll go after that money too. Had it happen to one of my vendors.
  15. Walking on the backs of others??? I'm STILL paying.
  16. I like this. I would think that a trot line scheme would be better if you're trying to survive off the land. But if you gotta go after fish one at a time, you may need a rod with some length.
  17. Good guy. Haven't bought any guns yet, but dropped by to chat and pick up some ammo. Been doing business with Belshire Hardware for years.
  18. Some folks will spin anything to make it sound palatable. I agree with you 100%
  19. Women that haven't had miscarriages suffer depression. Seen it with my own two eyes... a couple of hours ago.
  20. 'cause of us grumpy old farts
  21. Rule number x: This is not a democracy . Did somebody hit the report button? I've only done one transfer. It was nothing more than a background check for me.
  22. Probably since the beginning. That's why it hasn't already happened. Draconian budget slashing usually does more damage than anything else. Don't we pay those weasels enough to manage this thing? If we look at it from a business perspective, it's a turnaround situation. The turnarounds that succeed are not the ones that cut into the meat. They get smarter, leaner and meaner. Our government can't seem to do that, because we hire complete idiots to run the place.
  23. More old farts...
  24. This has been a nice discussion, but I don't think the government has the balls to default on the boomers. It's fun for the young 'uns to talk about it, I guess. May be overlooking the fact that the boomers have lots of wealth and power. I doubt that it will ever turn into demonstrations in the street. I'm getting older, but I'm not being fed through a straw yet. I have lots of friends of ALL ages that wouldn't stand for a brutal end to social security. I'm all for conservative government. I ain't for moral bankruptcy. So, cool it with the BS, and cut somewhere else. I'm way high on the creditor's list. Oh yeah... Lester for President
  25. Should be a much bigger hit this time around
