I don't care what any of them say. The whole thing is about who gets the power, and how they can manipulate that with what they say. We are all way too far from the front of the line to actually benefit from anything they do in DC. Same old crap, no matter what gets said, or who we believe.

I doubt that they would replace the board, but the messenger belongs to them.

Any handyman CAN do it, but at that point, they're property of the utility company. On the power lines, YOUR wires start at the splices right before they enter the weatherhead. No big deal if nothing happens. If that messenger gets away from whoever disconnects it, you're going to be paying some of the most expensive electrical guys around, and may damage the weatherhead and riser to boot. There's no way to kill the power at that point, except at the pole. There's gonna be a healthy amount of tension on that messenger unless it's a pretty short drop from the pole. I would print that pic, go visit a local electrical contractor, and ask how they do it. Service entrance stuff can be tricky.

I liked Beck a lot until he fell off the deep end. I hope he returns to his old self. It's what brung him to begin with.

This is all very easy for me. It's not that I respect their authority so much, but I really repect the job they do. Having a friend shot up so badly that he has to wear a bag for the rest of his life (and he was wearing body armor) makes me want to do everything I can to make them feel safe. It's the least I can do. It's a very hazardous gig these days, and they do it anyway.

Beck still makes most of his money from radio. I would expect him to treat it with a little more care.

There's a lot to talk about here, but one point sticks out. Last time the government shut down, the Dems gained some power, and the Repubs lost some. As much as the politics of it sucks, the Repubs need to gain a LOT MORE power to pull off a true conservative agenda. I hate the fact that everybody in DC is playing to keep their jobs. Still, they can't do anything that will help get Obama reelected. If history is worth anything, that's exactly what a shutdown would have done.

Yep, bragging is justified.
