  1. Can't help but think that if some guy came running at me with an AK, a rag on his head, and making that turkey sound, that there wouldn't be some enthusiasm on my part. I'm pretty sure i have enough skill to stop the turkey sound.
  2. Does Tulip know how to bump fire her AR? Practice practice
  3. I meant the average Joe with a scanner.
  4. M/A-com was the client on that box I helped design. Interesting project.
  5. Maybe car alarms should sound different than sirens. They also announced themselves in both languages. We can go at this all day. It's a shame that he didn't believe it was the cops, if that's what you think really happened.
  6. Nashville has been digital for a good while, at least big chunks of it.
  7. I'm sure they have encrypted channels for higher level stuff, especially tactical. I'm betting most of the day-to-day chatter is still wide open.
  8. ... and not all zombies are the same. There are always a few exceptions.
  9. Everybody has an opinion about who should own a gun. Boxer, Brady, Obama, etc. Bernie may be a bad example, but I doubt seriously he would actually shoot somebody, excluding self defense.
  10. There was a siren before the first shot was fired. I don't care how groggy I am, if I'm standing up with an AR in my hands, I'm dropping it THEN. We can have opinions about chosen tactics, but that's not what killed the guy.
  11. ... and it's illegal to monitor cell phones.
  12. Not sure I disagree with you. Just pointing out that it's just another gun law that impacts a bunch of the wrong folks (in terms of preventing "gum crime"). I kinda believe that you should take guns away from people that misbehave with guns.
  13. With all of these statistics, the most important one is missing. How many repeat offenders went from non-violent crime, to violent crime with a firearm? How is a gun even related to a crime that uses a screwdriver to execute the crime? Once again, gun laws that make a lot of things happen, but do NOTHING to address the problem. A criminal that uses a gun for his area of specialty is NOT going to be worried about a gun charge. The crime itself has much greater risk.
  14. They may be a little late to the party on this one. I put a Wolfe spring kit in mine awhile back. I'm an Apex fan, and believe they probably got this one right too. Just sayin', the Wolfe kit worked, so I probably won't dig back into the gun.
  15. That was my first thought :-). If it were me, I would have a laser bore sighter with a full assortment of spuds handy. i would also probably line the box with sound absorbing foam, and tweak up the front end so it was adjustable enough to hold any gun. I have thought about doing something like this more than once. it would just have to be super safe, and super quiet.
  16. I think this will pick up anything that's not encrypted... Uniden | A World Without Wires - BC898T
  17. My facebook post, with a link to the article... Couple things Mr. Jihad... 1. You can't buy fully automatic weapons at gun shows. 2. If y'all start shooting, it means that we get to shoot back. In most cases, it will be done with skill and enthusiasm.
  18. At some point years ago, we had to buy digital radios from a civil authority so we could monitor that kind of stuff for news. It was stupid money. The scanner geeks were working to get past that, even back then. Good question. EDIT: More... They're still using radio, even if the user interface has changed. I've been deeply involved in the design of some of the gear on the dispatch end in the last couple of years. If it's on the air, you can pick it up.
  19. I have Lefty friends that believe we ALL have full auto weapons. It's not the Anti's mission to spread truth, it's to spread fear
  20. Here's the map... Walmart Walk: A Pictorial Journey
  21. It's TracPhone. They're a reseller. They have been pretty ok in the past. I would let the wife test drive it until you know for sure, and then make the change. They don't just piggy back verizon. There's some AT&T and T mobile in there as well.
  22. Correct. It's required.
  23. I think most (maybe all) of his patients had to hit their own buttons. I agree with what you're saying though.
  24. Thanks. Long range in general. I have no objections to popping a varrmint with it. It gets shot a lot less than the others. It needs good ammo, and weighs 13 lbs.
