    My new toy

    Congrats! You're gonna enjoy it.
  3. Yep, I use a flat surface if I have one, and usually do. I've done it on my knee as well. The only single stacks I have are for my 1911 haven't noticed a problem. As with all things, it's what you get used to. I've loaded a bunch of mags for other folks at the range after watching them struggle with the thumb method. More than one has left the range with maglula scribbled on a piece of paper or ammo box.
  4. I have one of those, but am much faster with a maglula. Once I got the rythm, it's the fastest thing I've used. It also works on all my pistols except the little .380.
  5. I can see it with varmint bullets to a point. A deer Vital zone) is a big target. My varmint AR shoots 1 1/2" groups with plain jane ammo. Load it with the right sized SMK's, and they get tiny. Shooting small animals at long range takes some bullet voodoo
  6. I didn't say I was one of those folks :-). I have one box of Accutips, and the rest are core lokt. I get a little over 1" groups with core lokt out of both of my bolt guns (.243 and .270) as long as I knock the burrs of the tip before I shoot them. Not that I won't blow 20 bucks on the "why not" factor. Just wouldn't do it to take a deer with one of my bigger rifles.
  7. It took me awhile to buy into the AR platform. Once I did, I was hooked. Again, it doesn't keep me from loving lever guns. I have seveal bolt guns too. They just have a hard time getting my attention these days. I'll own a Marlin 39A for sure one of these days, even though I haven't shot my .22's in months.
  8. Like Dolomite said, they're less friendly to the folks around you. If you normally shoot at a crowded range, you may want to think about it first. They work by diverting muzzle blast to offset recoil. In other words, they blow it at the guy in the next lane.
  9. This kinda crap is way too common these days. I hate dealing with developers. Most of them don't even care if they broke your business. They'll probably fix it. Welcome to the field test team.
  10. I'm with you. No reason to cock your gun more than once :-)
  11. Yep. That's what I meant by the "why not" factor.
  12. Yeah, I meant browser. Vbulletin has to be getting a lot of complaints about this.
  13. I prefer a skin. Makes more sense to me than another ap.
  14. Seems pretty snappy here. Did you blow out your cache before you made the comparison? TGO could be "cheating".
  15. Just got another "are you sure you want to leave this page?". That's an IE thing, right? Got it again. It's the editor chatting with IE. More autosave weirdness?
  16. It seems faster this morning, but not fixed. Still slow going to my Inbox. Could just be a small number of editor sessions running. I'm guessing there's a way tone down the interaction with the database??? If you can turn off the chatty stuff, I'm betting they get it fixed in the long run.
  17. The LeverEvolution bullets for the 30/30 may be an exception. They increase the useful range of the rifle. As far as the beefier calibers go, I'm sure there's a "why not" factor with a lot of folks.
  18. It "feels" like that from this end. Is it possible to just roll back?
  19. This all came on fast, right around the editor upgrade. Good luck with the bug hunt. Frustrating process.
  20. Guess we need to keep quiet about the machined brass bullets :-)
  21. It ain't sprayin' and prayin' either :-)
  22. Didn't really mean that. What I was trying to say... don't expect a 12" pattern at 30 feet. Gonna be more like 1 or 2. Point shooting IS aiming.
  23. And yes... I want to leave this page if it will post what I just said :-)
