It really comes down to what you want. Fixing the 10/22 trigger is cheap and easy. The M&P is a great rifle, and is worth the money if you'll enjoy it more than the 10/22. I haven't shot my .22's in awhile. My AR's get most of my attention these days. If I do decide to go on a rimfire shooting binge, the 10/22 suits me just fine. But... that's just me.

Yep, and will have a lot fewer misfires too.

Probably both. I don't buy into the theory (fantasy) that he's out to intentionally destroy the country. I think he's just wrong in the way he tries to help it. In a few rare cases, like shooting Osama in the face, he's not wrong at all.

My varmint AR has a 1:8. I shoot 77 grain Matchkings in it. Not sure a 1:9 would cut it. I also plan to play with some Barnes TTSX. Those are solid copper, and are longer than lead bullets of equivalent weight. I think this may be part of the reason why the military went to faster barrels. A change in bullet technology could require it.
