  1. Honestly, I didn't read the article. I've read tons of that stuff. I learned that if you want to make a significant improvent in stopping power, you need to make the barrel longer... usually 16 inches or so for me.
  2. I'm gonna get a Giraud with a meplat lopper. That will fix the ogive/total length issue. Not why I'm doing it, but it will.
  3. Let's do a small physics thing. It takes as much energy to get the bullet moving as it does to stop it. You feel that when you shoot the gun. Not discounting the difference in calibers. Just saying that if the energy was that significant, you would have two dead guys instead of one.
  4. Even if they would have allowed campus carry, they still would have been tagged by this lawsuit. It will take more than a change in that one policy. They need to get out of the "protection" business entirely. They suck at it.
  5. Yep. Odds are good that the feds will only make it worse.
  6. BTW... that bulle comparator clamps right on your calipers. It's not fiddly to use.
  7. Don't know, but I assume so. Sierras are notorious. I just make sure they don't go over mag length if appropriate. A lot of the stuff I load won't fit in a mag anyway. My length to the ogive is always real consistent.
  8. Mine will do it over a period of a few days. Self cleaning piston, my ass.
  9. With .223, your bullets can be part of it. The distance between the ogive and the point can vary. The seater die doesn't reference to the point. Get a bullet comparator that measures length to the ogive of the bullet. http://www.midwayusa...-with-6-inserts
  10. Don't know if the same applies to some rifle springs. I never leave the bolt back on my rifles, except for my Mini 14. The gas piston will rust shut on it if it hasn't been cleaned. Gotta do a Garand stomp on it to break it loose.
  11. Actually, Magpul says it takes some ridiculous amount of time to distort the feed lips on a fully loaded PMAG. I believe them. My real reason is to keep dust bunnies out of the mags. There's also a possibility that some of my mags could reach the time limit. I have a bunch of PMAGS, and some never get used. They're still loaded.
  12. Lose that fear. It's just plain wrong. I DO snap the dust caps on my PMAGS for long term storage, but not for the benefit of the springs. Metal fatigue requires movement.
  13. Yep. The aging process happens in wood barrels. Once it's in the bottle, it it what it is.
  14. I would have been real surprised if it went any other way. Of course, we live in surprising times.
  15. Dolomite making wildcat loads? Say it ain't so
  16. I'll say this... you weren't disarmed.
  17. Maybe Panetta should give his speaches somewhere else. I understand it, but it still pisses me off.
  18. I use a Strip Lula for .223. Fast with loose ammo, and blazing fast with stripper clips. I have some empty clips that I plan to reuse at some point.
  19. That's not anal. I know a couple of guys that can tell you the average weight of a grain of Varget. If I was using a powder drop, I would probably use a beam scale too. They don't drift like most electronic scales can.
  20. Defending the still will be half the fun. Making whiskey can get boring.
  21. If you look close, I figure you'll see his PM9 in his front pocket. His pistol is what sold me on the PM9. Real nice shooter. On my list.
