  1. Honestly, I laughed my butt off.
  2. Nice work!
  3. You gotta be a little bent to perform well in the Paulbot threads
  4. I guess you can break anything if you work at it. Tearing up an anvil with a rubber hammer comes to mind.
  5. I think you could do it, but you have it backwards. You need a max pressure load for the longer range, with the scope zeroed for the max range. Then you would have to back down on the powder for the shorter range. Would probably be ok for targets. Naturally, your close in hits are going to have a lot less smack. You can work it out in a ballistics program by just plotting your max range load, and then backing down on velocity until you hit the closer zero. Here you go. 69 grain matchking at 3000 fps with a 300 yard zero. Drop the velocity to 2425 fps and it will zero at 200 without changing the scope. Drop it to 1762 fps and it will zero at 100. It barely made the 100 yard zero. A crappier bullet will probably work better. You're gonna need a chrony. This would be a fun experiment, but I wouldn't make it a practice. Too easy to turn the knob.
  6. Sad news. I enjoyed his videos too.
  7. Assuming the scope is in the middle of it's range (good assumption with a VXIII), he has 45 MOA to play with. Taking 3 random .308 loads with published muzzle velocities, and a 100 yard zero, here's the sight adjust chart. Note that the scope is already up 4 MOA for the 100 yard zero, which only leaves 41 MOA of adjustment. Also note that factory loads are going to run slower in a barrel shorter than 24", which will require still more elevation. As I said in an earlier post, he's gonna need the riser, even though it's on the edge. BTW: These traces were run at 80 degrees outside temp.
  8. Raise the grates and get out the carpenter bee loads
  9. ... for not doing the required random gropes. Fired for being much to intelligent to work for the TSA.
  10. Party pooper. This could be downright entertaining
  11. Nope. He left a Sig on the table at the gun show. I would be snarky too
  12. Snarky today, eh? You shoulda bought that Sig.
  13. I agree. His followers are idiots.
  14. I always thought Jesse was an idiot. Needless to say, "we" doesn't include him.
  15. When you get down to primer tweaks, you probably need to test the loads. When it comes to audio, you have to measure a lot of it. Spice is almost useless for most types distortion, mainly because you need lots of resolution, and the models generally aren't good enough.
  16. Maybe that's some of the "under the radar" stuff that Obammy promised the Brady Bunch.

    New toy...

I had to add some short extenders to my Glock 36. Little sucker tries to squirm right out of your hand.
  18. There is a cartridge database with dimensions and max pressure, a bullet database with dimensions, weights, and shot start pressures, and a powder database. The databases are real comprehensive. There is no primer database, probably because the differences in primers are outside the accuracy of the program. You can adjust barrel length. Like any other program, accuracy depends on the quality of the data, and the mathmatical model. You don't want quickload to be the final word, because it can be way off. it can also be real close. It shines in areas where most other simulators shine. It does a great job of showing the effects of manipulating your loads, and can be tweaked to agree more closely with real world loads. I usually try to compare it with pressure tested load data from the manufacturers. The truth is somewhere in all of it, with my chrony being the most reliable source of data. I use SPICE in analog circuit design. It's a real powerful tool if you know its limitations. If you don't, it will get you into a bunch of trouble.

    New toy...

Same here. The full size is a real sweatheart. Haven't shot the compact yet, but hear lots of love from the folks that have them.
  20. Yep. If you mention death and the president, you just became part of their travel budget.
  21. "All your weapons registered?" He's in Texas. No such thing.
  22. One reason I like real gun stores. They let you carry your own gun.
  23. Good to know. The one that's being updated is the "official" one. They need to redirect the old link, since it's the one that shows up in a Google search (second hit). The new link is nowhere to be found if you just Google "CHMR".
  24. i knew Nicemac did that one. Never heard that it became to "official" one, so I have been using the old one. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/38357-chmr-website/page__hl__chmr
