  1. Well... I went ahead and ordered all the stuff. There are so many things out of stock, I wound up using six vendors. What a pain in the butt.
  2. That's what I did. They're dead to me
  3. Switched a couple of hours ago. I'll do what I can to stop supporting Google.
  4. I have this one. no complaints. It's cheap too... https://www.competit...emart&Itemid=79 BTW... 91 reviews on Midway. Over 3/4 of them rate it 5 stars
  5. I'll do a flat top with some kind of optic. BTW... Muzzle device ordered.
  6. I am. Still have to chase down an upper receiver, BCG, charging handle, stock, and muzzle device. That could take all month
  7. Barrel is ordered. Guess I'm committed now.
  8. I just figure if this powder was developed for "green" ammo, one of the main reasons would be to deal with reduced case capacity. Barnes solids are probably gonna make one helluva round.
  9. I load them in .458, and they're quite a bit longer than lead. That's why I figured they would be a good match for the new powder.
  10. I may try some of these with it... http://www.midwayusa.com/product/292014/barnes-tipped-triple-shock-x-bullets-22-caliber-224-diameter-62-grain-spitzer-boat-tail-box-of-50
  11. Yeah. MacGyver has been trying to tell me that for awhile. I shoot too many different guns to ever be muff free.
  12. I have the worst luck with barrel nuts too. When they hit minimum torque, it seems like they're always a couple of degrees past fitting the gas tube. It can be a pretty seroius grunt getting it to the next hole.
  13. Has to interface with a torque wrench. It's actually for the barrel nut. I have a strap wrench too. That won't cut it. I'm hoping Smith is right, and they just include it.
  14. Yep. I'm still thinking about doing a hog roller when I finally take the leap.
  15. It may. I'll have the rail in a couple of days. Thanks for catching it. It's only 20 bucks. Still a good save.
  16. You guys and your cans .
  17. I have a standard barrel wrench. This is a special one for DD Lite rails. Do you have one of those? http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Daniel-Defense-AR15-Lite-Wrench-p/dd-2140%20ar15-lite%20wrench.htm
  18. .458 SOCOM is pretty cool stuff. You just gotta grab the brass when it's available. Single source from Starline.
  19. Apparently. Just ordered the rail and gas block, both DD. The 300 blk wants a carbine length gas system, so I'm sticking a lo pro inside a Middy rail. Now I gotta find a barrel wrench. Bravo is out of stock.
  20. I picked up the stripped lower on Saturday, and ordered enough stuff to build it up, minus a stock. The DD rail will slow me down a little. They's proud of those things.
  21. I'm a long way from load development at this point. I have a bad habit of building AR's in a week. I'm going to try to pace this one slower.
  22. I don't really want to be talked out of it. It's more of a "Am I missing anything?" question. I took a hard look at the Grendel. If I'm going to suppress something, it will most likely be a .458 SOCOM. If you're gonna go slow, you might as well sling a 500 grain pill. I know what I'm getting here. It's basically a 30/30 in an AR. If I don't like it for some reason, I'm a barrel swap away from turning it into a plain AR.
  23. I have one AR that's chambered in .223. I have done the chamber measurements on it. No way I can jam an 80 grain Berger into the lands. I run out of bullet first. I think some manufacturers probably lengthen the .223 chamber spec just to minimize the pressure Spike. I can shoot 5.56 in that gun with no problems. A Hornady OAL Gauge will tell you for sure.
  24. I was agreeing with you
