  1. If that's the case, they need to deal with anybody that breaks the law with a swift, stern hand. When it comes to a bunch of folks that are sick and tired of thuggery, Florida ranks right at the top. They're armed too.
  2. The chrony accuracy debate makes me nuts! Chronographs are simple devices, outside the bells and whistles that get tacked onto them. Quartz timebases are generally accurate and stable. The required accuracy in spacing between the sensors is easy with today's manufacturing tolerances. The name of the game is making the sensors read the bullet pass reliably. Velocity matters very little at close range. It matters a lot at long range. I use a chrony for the same reasons as Dolomite. If I'm trying to duplicate the performance of a factory load, especially with a wildcat, I need to know the velocity. Most factory ammo velocity is specified with a 24" barrel. Most of my barrels ain't.
  3. It wasn't just one data point. Anyway, instrumentation confuses me.
  4. As far as I know, not for the police.
  5. Lil' gun is a little perkier. Looks like H110 is doing ok for supersonic loads.
  6. We're gonna steal TV's from all the black folks
  7. If the measured velocity is wrong, then the drop tables are going to be wrong. My measured velocity allowed me to calculate the elevation setting on my scope at the practical range limit at that rifle. It's precise enough for me because a click is a click. You may need more precision than that. I don't.
  8. Sure, the error is max up close. When you zero the scope though, you dialing out the error at the zero range. So, the max error is at the muzzle, and decreases as you approach the zero range. If you want to drill tacks at 25 yards without holding over or under, you need to zero at 25 yards. The difference between the horizontal and vertical offsets is that there's no bullet drop in the horizontal offset. If there's no wind, the error will be a straight line.
  9. Sure. I just have a bunch of H110 that supposedly won't cycle my .458 SOCOM because of the middy gas system. I'm glad to find a hole to dump it into
  10. Just throwing this out there. My cheap chrony, and the Ohler ballistics program put my dope dead nuts on at 600 yards with 77grain matchkings. Dialed in the elevation, and didn't have to move it. Not disputing the precision statement, 'cause I don't know. I will just quote Todd Hodnett... "The bullet is the truth".
  11. Lester, remember that you're offset from the bore anyway. The paralax is in the scope, not the offset.
  12. Coincidence. You're only adjusting out 2 1/2 MOA. That's only 1 MOA more than most bolt guns.
  13. An AR scope isn't designed to be further from the barrel. It's just offset in height by 2 1/2", and the gun shoots 2 1/2" low at the muzzle with a scope, or if you're using irons. That error decreases as you approach the zero range. Offsetting the scope 2 1/2" to the left will work exactly the same way, only it will be a windage error. If the scope mount is at an angle, you still mount the scope so the reticle is level. Zeroing the scope will be normal. You will just wind up with the decreasing windage error.
  14. Obama probably won't lose any sleep because I don't vote for him. Piss on Google.
  15. Yep. Caster needs one of them so he can't shoot holes in it
  16. I don't plan to shoot subsonic loads with this rifle. I may in the distant future, but it's a slim may.
  17. I wouldn't. I have some hearing loss too. Can't say I've shot many guns in the house though. I figure I can put up with a few rounds if my life depends on it. If things go like the last 30 years, I'll probably just wind up carrying them around. I appreciate the fact that they're not a foot long.
  18. And they will, as soon as the terrorists start hiding in Granny's underwear.
  19. I hate those folks. Unfortunately, the sheep just continue to put up with the abuse.
  20. I agree with using whatever is available. I just don't see why anyone would buy a suppressed weapon just for self defense.
  21. Oh, I'll reload. I probably won't form my own brass. Will most likely just buy the cheap remington ammo to get enough for load workup. The caliber likes H110 powder, and I have a couple of pounds of that. Also have a brick of primers. Just need a set of dies, some bullets, and I'm good to go. BTW... I don't mind running them a little warm. The rifle will have a milspec M16 BCG.
  22. Me too. In fact, if i try to close just my right eye, my head will explode. I can't recall even trying to shoot left handed.
  23. Bing is working fine for me so far.
