Yep. I have loaded guns around me all the time when I'm drinking at home. I drank enough Maker's Mark one night (by accident) to shave off a 30+ year old mustache, but didn't shoot anything. Alcohol + guns doesn't automatically mean tragedy. Gotta have some stupid in there somewhere as well.

I helped a friend put a free float tube on an LR308. He had to buy an upper receiver block, a wrench for the new barrel nut, and a gas block (had to cut the pins on the old one to get them out). Lots of truth to your statement if cost is your biggest concern.
