  1. I have a narrow focus this time. Mitt is likely to do all I expect. Fix the money.
  2. Depends on the caliber. I always hit it with #9 (or CLP) and a brass bore brush. Followed with some solvent soaked patches over a brass jag. Once the patches come out clean, I hit it with a couple of dry patches followed by an oiled patch to finish up. If it's subject to copper fouling like a .223, I'll add scrubbing with copper solvent with a nylon bore brush. Again, followed by soaked patches until I stop seeing the green stuff. BTW: I'm a fan of boresnakes, and own a bunch of them. They're good for field cleaning, but I can always get more gunk out with brushes/patches.
  3. Well... except when a Libtard votes for Gary because Obama's been doing too much killin'. Let the preaching continue!
  4. Play stupid games, go to jail... http://gillreport.com/2012/09/video-filmmaker-arrested-for-staging-fake-terrorist-attack/
  5. It's almost a shame to get rid of that wood. Nice looking rifle!
  6. Killing terrorists is the one thing I LIKE about Obama. I really hope some libs vote for Gary.
  7. That's what I'm gonna do. I've just been procrastinating. in my case, it's good bit of work. I have to put a finish on it, since it's going in the house.
  8. I generally can't shoot real tight groups with any red dot. I need some magnification for that. With that said, I'll kill a zombie dead at 100 yards, and won't spend any time lining up the shot.
  9. The aftec extractor is a cool part. I'm not sure I'm enough of a man to wear out the Ed brown extractor you put in my gun . Thanks again, BTW.
  10. Nothing against the PSA product. RRA has a GREAT product.
  11. I was in there today to buy a post hole digger. Barely got out of there unscathed . Turned into a 30 minute gun conversation, even though I avoided the counter.
  12. If everything is within the sampling bandwidth (below the Nyquist frequency), it will capture it accurately. There is a sharp anti-aliasing filter in the conversion process, so bandwidth is strictly limited to frequencies below nyquist. There's nothing wrong with using a 44.1 khz sampling rate for this work. I would use a condenser mic for this. Here's a free program written by a friend of mine. I would use it, since it does some complex analysis for loudness... http://orban.com/meter/ EDIT: Link to the technical description... http://orban.com/meter/Technology.html
  13. If you're gonna look at RIA, you need to take a look at American Classic too. D&T carries them. Great pistols for the money.
  14. Yep. They're on my permanent suck list because they tried to blow smoke up my butt (intentional or not). I would rather deal with RRA and their special kinda service. At least RRA is backed up because they have a great product.
  15. Cold
  16. Still says Palmetto Bug Armory on the side. It ain't allowed in my safe.
  17. Not near as much question about who makes the best mags. Wilson Combat 47 series for me.
  18. Good luck getting them to see it.
  19. I've seen a Sig 1911. Very nice stuff. The modified extractor is probably more reliable too from a manufacturer's perspective. Me... I'm kind of a purist when it comes to replacing one of JMB's leaf springs.
  20. I prefer that. It's also the area that requires hand fitting by somebody.
  21. A 1911 is a weird bird. A lot of companies make them, but none actually designed the gun. So, the classic "Ruger reliability" may not apply. Ruger's great customer service certainly does. The design almost requires hand fitting of some parts, so it can come down to the <guy> that put them together. It's why you can spend a ridiculous amount of money on one. I own a couple of cheapies. One of them rquired a significant amount a tuning by a local 1911 wizard. If I was going to buy a moderately priced American 5" gun, and rely on their customer service, I would probably pick the Ruger. I'm sure the S&W is ok too, since their customer service is second to none. S&W doesn't use the standard extractor. I'm not sure how that impacts other parts on the gun.
  22. Ringer voltage is 90 VAC. It will bite you a little.
  23. Yep. It's why they're on my sucky vendor list.
  24. The 48 volts is called battery, and is backed up by batteries. Still works as well as it always did.
  25. I think we handle religion and politics pretty well on here compared to most places. I don't think we could pull it off without a good staff of mods. Sometimes, the crowd even does a decent job of moderating.
