A Last Minute Appeal To Libertarians And Non-Voters
mikegideon replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Good point. Now, the GOP has got to examine itself. The demographics are going to continue to change and the GOP is going have to make women and minorities feel welcomed into the party. I'm not saying give up core beliefs or values. I'm saying make all Americans feel welcomed into the party, stop the gay bashing, hate only those who warrant hatred, and stay out of a woman's bloomers. ECONOMY, SECURITY AND EDUCATION will equal PROSPERITY!
Agree 100% -
Ohio was just called for Obama a few minutes ago...baring a true miracle, the communist who hates America and doesn't give a #### about the Constitution will get four more years. For months now, quite a few folks here have complained that Romney wasn’t “this†or wasn’t “that†or wasn’t Ron Paul or wasn’t substantially different from Obama, etc., etc., and while Tennessee strongly went for Romney; it looks like those who didn’t want Romney to win will get their wish. Obama will likely get to nominate two and maybe as many as four anti-gun and for that matter, anti-Constitution Supreme Court justices…he’ll get to keep spending trillions of dollars we don’t have to give away, to those who don’t work, the stuff we work our ass off to provide for our family….his bureaucrats will get to decide if we are important enough to society to get cancer treatment or just get some pain pills and told to go home…we’ll get to pay more for gasoline and food and what kind of light bulbs we are allowed to have and it won’t be long until what was the United States looks exactly like Spain and Italy and France and every other bankrupt European country. I guess we simply no longer have a country of people who are willing to work for what they have; rather, we simply have a country filled with people who think they are entitled simply because they haven’t assumed room temperature. Maybe the house will grow a backbone and stop some of what Obama wants to do but I don't think they have the balls to do it.
The senate can filibuster an appointment.

mikegideon replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If Ron Paul had won the Republican nomination, the Libertarians would be begging the "Principled" Republicans to vote with them in the General Election. I suspect the percentages would have been about the same. There would be about 10% of the Republican vote that would protest vote for a non-Paul...and we would be in just about the same place we are now...on the verge coming up just a little short of getting Obama out of office.
Ah... leaving Obama in office. Boy, that showed 'em. -
I have become somewhat addicted to flipping back and forth between Fox and MSNBC. If Romney wins, I'll probably watch a lot of MSNBC for a couple days, just gotta see the dejection of Sharpton, Matthews, Shultz, Maddow, etc. That would be a thrill up MY leg! - OS
I want Obama to lose for all the right reasons. But, I wanna see some suffering from a few. Good suggestion on watching MSNBC.

Marine Corps helicopter pilot sues over Wyo. traffic stop
Personally, I'd like to know the legality of placing someone in handcuffs without ANY probable cause of them committing a crime. In my day as a LEO it would be considered a violation of their civil rights. Being an asshat is not necessarily a crime. Contempt of cop is also not a crime.
May not be legal to secure his weapon any other way (in that state)? Didn't the guy refuse to let the cop take control of his weapon? -
Ah... the old dog trick. They better find some dope (which they won't), or I WILL kick that one up as high as I can kick it, just not on the side of the road. That practice needs to be stopped. Not dope dogs, but the false alert BS so they can search without a warrant.
Agreed. My bad, I veered away from original topic. I was talking about a multitude of problems with cops than disarming. If the law gives them that ability, which it does, then they can follow it. If we don't like that law, we get the law changed.
I don't like "bad" cops any more than the next guy. I've bumped into a few over the years. I've even consented to a search in the past, when my car matched a description. I won't consent when it's a fishing expedition. With all that said, I have quite a bit of respect for what cops do, and have seen a lot more good than bad. I'll normally do everything I can to make their job easier. If I don't get a fair shake, I'll take it up with somebody above them after the stop ends. They have the upper hand during a stop.
Nowhere did I say to argue with cops on the side of the road. Handle yourself as you see fit. Just because someone expects someone else to do their job properly makes me a problem? When you get a hair cut, do you expect it to be right? When you go out to eat do you expect it to be prepared how you pay for it? When you buy a car do you expect it to perform like it should? When your house is on fire, do you expect the fire department you pay for to show up and do their job properly? Why does everyone want to give cops a free pass when they piss on our rights, because they want to be safer? Hold them to the standard they accepted and took an Oath to follow. What is so wrong about that?
The law allows them to disarm you for their safety in this state. Their choice, not yours.
Based on the above, I wouldn't be surprised if, some day, you have an unhappy traffic stop encounter with a LEO that we'll all read about here.
Handcuffed on Youtube. Quoting lines from the book "Lawyerin' for Dummies".
-
I'm not saying that an officer should arrest for a simple motor vehicle violation but they could.
This is the main reason why you don't pull some jailhouse lawyer crap when a cop is most likely just trying to do his job. I won't consent to a search either, simply because I don't want anything broken. I don't mind if they run the serial number on any of my guns. I'll find other ways to "protect the constitution".

Marine Corps helicopter pilot sues over Wyo. traffic stop
mikegideon replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I can't argue that. I do think he should have just answered the question, especially since he was open carrying and it was painfully obvious that he was in fact carrying. That being said, if I end up in handcuffs there needs to be a lawful reason.
And, the cop may deserve a spanking. But, a lawsuit is downright Kwikish. -
regardless of the whole video and what was said and people's attitudes, I am pretty sure where the cop says that his beliefs, etc. . .TRUMP the Constitution is going to get him in hot water. i would be curious to hear the follow up to this story. . .
I'll take a stab... judge throws the case out of court using the whiney bitch clause. That guy would have been out of handcuffs a lot sooner if he would have just shut up. Cops get shot and killed at traffic stops a lot. There's usually a gun involved. -
It's yours for now. If we survive, I plan to try my hand at reloading.
It's easy. Need to get into casting too. I figure we'll have some teeth to melt down when it's all over
So are you suggesting that so long as a source says what you need it to say, it doesn't matter where it comes from or what their bias might be? It sure didn't seem to work that way for my master's degree....those professors always insisted on "competent sources"; the Huffington Post and Wikipedia were not acceptable! ROTFLMAO
Folks hear what they wanna hear. I'm worn out on the whole damn thing. If somebody bought the picture the Obama campaign painted of Romney, they're just not gonna see it any other way. The 6 billion dollar election cycle did its magic. -

Voldemort behaviour brings on Voldemort style trouble. The guy was confrontational from the beginning. -
I'm preparing for both ends of the spectrum. If Mitt wins, I get to play plinko from my roof top. If Obama wins I have candy and popcorn to eat and plastic to cover my electronics while I watch all of the heads of Obama opponents spontaneously combust.
Can I have your brass?
