Hey Mike. It's Kmad. I have a Rock River LAR-8 on order. Thinking of that Battle Comp 2 for .308. Worried it'll blast people next to me. What has your experience been. The video looks impressive. Also thought about it for the Draco SBR I'm building. Really pricey stuff.
We need to hook up anyway. I have 3 AR's with brakes... a 5.56, a 300 blackout, and a .458 SOCOM. I'll give you a call this weekend. You're gonna like the RRA. They built my .458 upper.
Aesthetics they all claim to do different things. AR's don't need brakes and some reduce flash and can be useful, but mainly people pay $50 to $100+ because it looks cool.
Not sure I agree with you there Smiffy. They don't need them for recoil reduction, but they can sure help hold the gun still for followup shots. I have two carbines that are virtually identical, except one has an A2 flash hider, and one has BattleComp. Real significant difference on followup shots. I also have a brake on my .458. It simply reduces bruising

Gun Shows; What to look out for, and what to expect
mikegideon replied to Grendel's topic in Events and Gatherings
There is no waiting period in Tennessee. Pass the background check, pay the man, and take your gun home. -
Here we go..Zimmerman's at it again!

Good! His attorney is plenty smart. -
I’m calling I don’t believe for one second that if he put that video on YouTube he hasn’t had many contacts from people that would knock him TFO just for a free airplane ride. What’s he doing with all the people that are taking that offer?
Well, it's on Youtube, with 13,000+ views. Free airplane rides aren't what they used to be, since they started grabbing your kajones. Nobody knows what he's doing with the takers but him.

Yeah, another 'newoption to reloading' topic
mikegideon replied to MississippiBoy's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
When I finally get around to building my permanent bench, it will be two layers of 3/4" plywood laminated together, with a real heavy frame. I need one at least 6' long. I have the drawings. Just haven't made the time. I have a LOT of stuff, so there will be shelves too. Fortunately, I have enough space if I shift some stuff around. -
Yeah, another 'newoption to reloading' topic
mikegideon replied to MississippiBoy's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
You will need the double disk kit when you start reloading rifle. You'll like the classic turret press. I use mine for pretty much everything except critical stuff. -
I really like the lee disk powder device for loading things like 9mm fast --- it likes small ball powders best. I really like having extra turrets, so my dies are set up and ready to go each time.
+1. Be sure to get the auto disk PRO and a riser. The plain auto disk is kinda cheesey. -
Oh, ha, I thought you were talking about what he did in a previous life. I will say though, I would prefer a reserved, yet confident instructor as opposed to a loud mouth, self aggrandizing tool. The tool act works fine with folks that don't know any better, but is annoying as hell and a distraction to training for those that do.
All I've seen is the internet show. Never seen the guy run a class.
Absolutely it is a bad trait. Not that I think of him as anything more that a war tourist, if I found myself in a situation where he would be the person watching my back I would would rather sit and watch radios. His attitude is the epitome of douchey tough guy which is what gets people killed; either because he discovers he isn't as tough as he thinks he is when the metal starts flying, or he does stupid stuff to get his fight on. He is bad news. Trust me, I've dealt with his kind before. They are dangerous in a combat zone.
You missed what I was saying. As a trainer. I'm not going into combat with anybody.
Robert, If that post is directed at me please refer to my last line. I was not commenting on him as a trainer, soldier, etc, just agreeing that his video post makes him come off as a very abrassive personality.
His abrasive personality doesn't bother me at all. Cocky isn't a bad trait in what he does for a living. Some may even view it as a positive. I normally get a kick out of his videos. He does manage to kick up a pretty good buzz when he puts one out.
So, he made a video to counter claims of him being a coward? Will he now make a video to counter claims that he is a flaming douche-tard, or is there enough substantiated evidence of that to prevent an argument?
TGO David nailed it. Douche-tard or not, did we spell his name right?
So that's the same Uberti "Cattleman El Patron", in .45 Colt, right? Looks sweet for sure. - OS
Yep. Thanks

Here's a feeble picture. Turns out that Able didn't really have the gun in stock, so in a panic, I hit the Bass Pro. They have them on sale right now, even tho it doesn't show on their web site. The guy at the counter didn't even know they had them, and had to dig it out of the back room. Able was cool about the order cancellation. I paid a little more money, but didn't want to get caught up in the Obama frenzy and wind up with NO gun. The picture doesn't do it justice. Nice shootin' iron! Because 1 is none and 2 is one, and shopping for guns is fun.
mikegideon replied to a topic in Handguns
I love my girl to death, but she kinda has to put up with my gun fetish. At this point, I think she figures I'm gonna run out of creative ways to cram anything else in the safe. She's probably right. If I go for a bigger safe, she'll simply shoot me with one of my guns (or hers). Everything works out in the end -
A Short Tweet exchange between Pierce Morgan and Carol Roth
mikegideon replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Poose Morgan needs to take his liberal, pansy, anti-gun ass back to England. I HATE that guy. -
Got the gun. Action is smoother than a baby's butt. Gonna shoot it Friday. Pics as soon as I can get 'em
Shrecmanager I have a question. What are the requirements for the ROs? Is it something like the NRAs RSO course or does the state look for something more
Fun disposition. NO Democrats

I have some ammo on the way. Not sure about the gun yet.
For the past two years, Stones River is the only range I have shot at. I love it. It is very reasonably priced and close to my house. I see these people who have a problem with the RSO's, but I think they are just looking for something to complain about. I do not want some meek, timid person making sure someone does not shoot me in the butt while I am changing my target. I want a loud mouth ball buster doing that. SHRECMANAGER: Thanks so much. Tell all your RSO's thanks. Keep up the good work!
Yep. If I'm gonna get shot in the butt, I prefer to do it with my own Glock

Trace Adkins explains Confederate flag earpiece
mikegideon replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Trace Adkins needs to explain himself for "Honkytonk Padunkadunk" long before he needs to explain why he's sporting a Confederate flag.
Probably wasn't his fault.
