I'll vouch for the Dolomite trigger upgrade as a cheap improvement. I use Geissele triggers on some of mine.

Almost as tragic as the Mossberg tactical lever gun.
-
Yep. Won't stop one criminal, but it will add more crap on us.

I think you and I have had this conversation before. Banning private sales would be unenforceable without a registry. That probably ain't gonna happen. Yep. Boating accidents, and all kinds of other tragic gun losses.

I may not mess with it. It's a pain in the butt to get the extractor back in without the right tool

Do you have a link to the jig? Nothing wrong with a drill. I bought the RCBS because it's self contained, and turns pretty slow. Caster's trimmer is pretty cool too. He just did a bunch of cases before he sprung for it. That's how he got tender knuckles :) -
It's his style. Like me, or hate me, but spell my name right. I don't have a problem with the guy. I kinda get a kick out of the way he can stir up such a buzz.

I don't think so. A standard A2 gas block comes with a sling loop. If you want to free float the barrel to improve accuracy, an Omega has a QD attachment point on it.
You and your expensive taste in DD rails again....... I kid, I would probably have a DD lite on my pistol build if I could afford it....maybe down the road, but my yhm will do just fine for now.
That DD rail weighs the same as a plastic handguard. I like light rifles.
-
Yeah that was typed before he said what kind of rail he has if I am not mistaken
I would probably stick an Omega on it.
-
The 6920 is the benchmark to which all other ARs are compared to. I would place the sling on the rail and off of the barrel. Having it on the barrel like that you can torque the sling and move the barrel causing accuracy issues.
That's not a free float. The sling is most likely fine where it is. It would take a LOT of force to flex that barrel.

Yeah. I'll probably get some ejector springs and play with the tension. I lightened the tension on my long range rifle. Got tired of it beating the crap out of my Lapua brass.
I use the chop saw from Harbor Freight. Works great. Then it is size and trim like normal. Dolomite
Yep. We both have the same one. Mine is heavily modified. -
Glad to see you got it running. FYI, mine ejects straight into the deflector denting the case neck as well. I'm gonna turn the gas down and see if that stops, then see if it will still cycle subs. I little sent is fine, I mean that's why the deflector is there. We're you using factory ammo?
Every one of my fired cases have a flat place on the neck. Lots of brass left on the deflector. I may lighten up the ejector spring a little.
I should have bought a 1000 cases a month ago when he had them in Knoxville and didn't. Didn't have my gun built, now i do and no brass. Haven't made either of the last two shows to see if he has had any more. Just delaying the chop process on the 2000 5,56 cases I have.
I made all of mine except for the 200 rounds of factory ammo. The chop saw is real fast once you make a jig. You need a 3 way power trimmer. Ask Tender Knuckles (Caster) about that . I have an RCBS power trimmer with a 3 way head. Caster is using one that fits on a drill. I'm going to modify my chop saw jig so it cuts closer to the final trim length. -
Wanna share?
It's not all done yet. I'm still sorting thru the 2000 cases I got from David. I'm down to 600-700 left to sort. I'm into a massive 3500 round reloading project, mostly 5.56. -
But they are the same company! Same address, same phone number in Winchester, KY. J&T makes DoubleStar components, sells components, DoubleStar sells complete rifles and lowers. http://jtdistributin...tore/index.html http://www.star15.com/index.html Whether either branch is "great" or not, I'll find out soon. - OS
Don't worry. Dolomite can fix it
-
I would not touch a J&T gun with a 10 foot pole. Doublestar is a great brand but J&T not so much. Dolomite
Ruh Roh

Double Star is OK. I watched a TGO member buy one of their uppers this weekend.
THis cartridge is what Eugene Stoner SHOULD have chambered his rifle in to begin with. Can't say the idea wasn't around that far back either, JD Jones claims the whisper as his invention but PO Ackley was necking down 357 magnum to 30 caliber long before. A 357 mag necked down to 30 caliber is a .300BLK-R
Well... he chambered it in 308 to begin with. It was the military that didn't wanna push all that lead thru the supply chain
