The computer industry works real hard making things obsolete. An example... Comcast is getting ready to stop supporting DOCSIS 1 modems. There will come a time, real soon, when they just stop working.   I went through 3 laptops over the life of my last network infrastructure gear. The newest wifi standard will probably show up in your next machine. That machine is gonna cost lots more than a router. Me... I would be pissed if that new machine had to throttle back because of old infrastructure.

  The Asus has 3 external antennas. It also has a USB port so you can attach a USB hard drive and use it as a file server. FWIW, I replaced real Cisco (not Linksys) gear with mine, and have been real happy with it.

Sonar Producer is real capable with the right PC. I haven't played with it in awhile, so haven't seen it since Version 6. You need a big monitor, or dual monitors if you are going to do projects with a lot of tracks (is there any other kind?).

I have an AudioFire 8 and Sonar Producer. You're talking a decent chunk of change just because of all the incidental stuff that goes with it. When you start recording real drums (right), your microphone/preamp count goes way up.   I would do it with a PC, and mix in the box. Gonna have to be a decent one.

Good thing I have my little chop saw and some dies :)
