  I had a preliminary patent search done by a patent law firm once. The document was the size of the old Nashville Yellow Pages, maybe a little thicker. A lot of things aren't patented though. Then it's just a matter of getting it to market and well established before somebody copies it. The whole subject makes my head hurt :). If you're talking about huge money, it's a real snake pit.

I have my name on a US patent with another guy. Our company actually owns the patent. It cost a buttload of money, and took a few years for the grant. The decision to pursue a patent is a complex one. Unless you're a big company, you probably can't afford to defend it. It really depends on the size of the market, though. Individuals seem to do best just selling their patents to a well funded company if the patent has any true worth.

  I'll bet money they figure it out real fast.

  I'm not sure I would bet. If you break it down to the part the LEO has to understand, it's just like a driver's license. I would bet, though, that a percentage would cut you some slack with the out-of-state permit if you did a convincing job of playing dumb. My luck doesn't go that way :).   Yes, for what it is. Between the handle texture, the jimping on the blade/frame, and the finger choil, it's pretty good. It's just real thin... less than 5/16".

Just got this one. My only girlie knife so far :) Stainless frame lock with Titanium Nitride coating. Blade steel is Japanese Acuto+. Blade is a little over 3". It has a ball bearing pivot. Really cool knife. The picture doesn't do it justice.

I do battle with wasps quite bit. We keep regular hornet killer at all of our transmitter sites. When I find a nest, it's genocide. When you think about it, a meat eating bug just ain't right. They're evil. I almost never get stung because of situational awareness. Been at war with them for years.

I look at it this way... If you manage to elect a great politician, odds are slim to none that he will accomplish anything great. If you elect a bad politician, odds are nearly 100% that he will accomplish something bad. Voting is a defensive move.
