I remember when the drop safety issue came up in the late '70's. LEO's uncovered the problem in the S&W pistols. I paid attention because I owned one. It may have even originated with S&W, since a lot of 39/59 pistols were issued to law enforcement in the day. I think that was their primary reason for developing the second generation. That was a long time ago. Maybe somebody can fill in some more details.

  The Model 59 Smith will send one right up your leg if you drop it right, safety or no. They fixed it in the second generation.

  The safety on a 1911 is as natural as it gets. S&W 59 series... not so much. It's ass backwards. I don't like guns with safeties, so I can't name any others. If I had to carry my 59, I would do it with the safety off.

  You can sue the Chinese for infringement. Wise words from a good friend of mine... "A patent is only as good as your ability to defend it". Another friend of mine blew his entire inheritance defending one of his patents. He got to keep his house. Another friend got one and sold it to a big company for a big check. Friend C did it right, but it was a rare case.   BTW, All three of the guys above are innovators, and have successfully taken their designs to market. I'm talking designs that generated millions in sales for each product.

There should be a bunch of IP attorneys in Nashville because of the music industry. It's a big money game. You can file for a copyright without an attorney. You just have to download the forms, fill them out, and send them in with a fee. With that said, Lester hit on the most valid points.

I use Q tips on guns, but don't stick them in my ears. I buy the big pack of Q-tip brand, and they last a few years.
