  1.   Here's a video of CMT's mill in action. I'm thinking it would be a couple of edits in their CNC program to do a .458 upper. I know, easier said than done. It would be nice sometime down the road.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RqeUG393EkE
  2.   That's it! Forged iron lowers. Those things will never wear out :)
  3.   And, you're the perfect guy to take those PM's. :) They would have seen my Irish DNA in my response. I'm not good with the public
  4.   I shoot some pretty big volumes sometimes. I've just been working thru a big pile of Wolf. When I'm done, I'm gonna quit shooting that stuff, and my world may change. My brass stuff is cheap enough, but does require the reloading effort. I'll know more when I finally burn thru the rest of the Wolf.    There IS a Giraud annealing machine in my future. It's the only part of reloading that goes great with beer!
  5. I would love to make this event, but can't. I am making a frenzied effort to finish my wood shop in the garage (so I can finally build my reloading bench ) and have stuff scheduled for tomorrow... stuff that can't be rescheduled. I'm up for a later date when the frenzy subsides.
  6.   I haven't priced anything yet for the Grendel. But, I don't leave any brass at the range if I can help it, and certainly not the expensive stuff like Lapua or .458 SOCOM brass.
  7.   Sure. I probably don't shoot as much as you. When I do, I'm likely to be tweaking one.
  8.   Pew pew pew? :) I have 3 semi-auto 22's. They haven't been out of the house in a few years. Two have been kicked out of the safe to make room for center fire guns. I just don't shoot any rimfire. If I did, I would have a dedicated one for sure. I'm just fine with my ammo cost for .223.
  9.   Now, you're getting specialized enough to make it a valid choice. You're not talking a plinker gun. I'm more likely to use an 870. I'm not skeered of having to repaint a wall or two :)   EDIT: I will add, though, that one of the main reasons to use an AR for HD is its ability to penetrate soft armor.
  10.   OK... I'll give you the ease of reloading. My rifle prep isn't bad, because I HATE case prep. I bit the bullet on some good tools, so that alone won't drive me to a caliber choice either. If I was trimming in 3 stages under human power... hell yes, gimme some 9mm! For me personally, it's so far below the platform's capabilities that it's not something I would do. I don't have any orphaned uppers. They're all complete rifles.   Like you, I'm probably headed toward a Grendel. I <hope> the receivers are that good. So much for economy and ease of loading, eh? That will all be done on my Coax press with Lapua brass.
  11.   Just what I would expect. Geissele sends grease with his triggers. They used to send red Mobile 28 grease, but all mine came with stuff that was more of a Vaseline color. Grease on the sear surfaces, and CLP on the pivots
  12.   There's this guy in California that makes cars that run on corn :)
  13.   So, you take one of the coolest ever locked breach designs and turn it into a 10/22 :)
  14. I read up a little. These things are from South America. They're spreading because they have no natural predators, except cars :). Got nothing to do with climate.
  15.   That's not a weak pistol caliber. Still... doesn't it require blowback operation?
  16.   You don't need all of the heft of an AR-15 to shoot bunny farts. Pistol calibers are weak.
  17.   You mean using a perfectly good rifle to set off 5 grains of Bullseye? I agree.
  18.   They can't afford to live in Florida anymore. They all moved here :)
  19. If you're gonna shoot long range, I agree with a fixed stock. My long range rifle has a Magpul PRS. I started with an A2 stock, and wound up changing it. Took too much time to get a good sight picture through the high powered scope. The Magpul fixed that problem with the adjustable cheek rest. That stock is expensive and heavy. But, if I do go with a Grendel with my TGO receivers, the rifle will get another PRS and a 20+ power scope.
  20. 1. Don't drop that thing on your toe   2. I'm a big fan of collapsible stocks. You don't give up anything with them if you get one with a friction lock. All my rifles except one have Magpul stocks. 4 are collapsible. If you're in a tight space, you'll always appreciate a shorter gun.
  21. I'll vote for him, and put a bigass sign in my front yard.

Haven't had a chance to play with them yet. This is a great place for feeding your Edgepro...   http://www.chefknivestogo.com/
  23.   You gotta get some of those skinnies for the Edgepro.
