Looks great. How do you like the JP handguard? I have one ordered for TGO #2, since it's a JP barrel with heat sink.

  Yep. My first one was around $2k without sights. I'm actually killing another rifle to do the second one. It will still be expensive because of the new barrel kit.

  They're not bad names. I've just never read the story. I'm just glad the Grendel became a Saami caliber. Wildcats are a pain in the ass.

I don't know that you can save any money on a build these days, especially if you compare it to the cheesiest Walmart rifle. Fact is, that DPMS from Walmart is gonna work just fine.   Here's the gotcha in my opinion. The CMT receivers are premium parts, that we managed to get for a helluva price. So, that drove me to put better parts in the gun. Everything in that DPMS rifle is adequate, but that's it. My first build was a $600 gun. That gun still exists, but with the upper receiver as the only original part.   The real beauty of the platform... you get to do exactly what you want. Swapping out the receivers on a Walmart special will certainly work. It's just gonna be a walmart special when you're done, 'cause it ain't about the receivers.

  I think it was a Double Star, but looks like DPMS parts. I pulled the parts out of another lower. It's a Geissele SSA-E trigger and Hogue grip with a Dolomite grip screw.

  I hate to butt in when you're on a roll, but it's usually not a preference. Most of the gay folks I know are just that way. Guys and girls both.

For what it's worth, I bought a Redhead spotting scope at Bass Pro. It was reasonable, and does what I want it to do. The tripod really sucks, but the scope is ok.

  Yep. The other barrel. I had a 223 rifle configured for long range, and decided to part it out. Since I had the second set of receivers and most of the barrel parts, I only had to get a handguard, barrel heat sink, gas tube, and the upper receiver parts. It will be a helluva rifle too. It will look more like a JP rifle. I also have an EGW bag rider, so I plan to use this one with my Rock BR front rest, and Protektor rear bag. I have a Larue mount showing up on Monday, so I'll actually be able to share the scope between the two rifles, or use one of my cheesy long range scopes. I just hope I can share loads between the two rifles.
