  1.   Similar deal in KY. You need a permit to conceal one.
  2.   I noticed that. They accept returns from civilians. Saw it on a forum, where some guy bought a used Godfather and had to send it back.
  3.   No, thank you. That's a good 'un
  4.   As I read it, some of that is done under license. Patent infringement is complicated. I haven't read their claims. Here's a thread...   http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/f17/spiral-fluting-not-allowed-barrel-manufacturers-42913/
  5. Here it is...   http://www.freepatentsonline.com/6324780.pdf
  6. Shaw has a patent on spiral fluting. That's why I asked. Nothing wrong with their barrels. I have a few.
  7. Spiral flutes. Is that a Shaw barrel?
  8.   Thanks for stopping by. You have lots of new fans in these parts!
  9.   I'm an idiot. Not so much for this one, but for all the others in the safe. No way I could wear them all out if I chopped up shit for a living. :)
  10. I have this one on the way for carry... http://www.bladehq.com/item--Protech-Godson-Automatic-Knife--22213
  11. I'm probably going to leave mine in the safe. I ordered another ProTech for carry.
  12. Priority is the only way to get something from the Left Coast in two days without having to hock one of your AR's. I'm in town, though, so there are no dinky Post Offices in the way.
  13.   Priority mail rocks. I use it every chance I get.
  14.   I have a couple of those. None in 5.56
  15.   I think one of the dogs ate yours. :) They tried to get mine too
  16. The bc does what I wanted. Helps keep the muzzle on target. I does reduce recoil some, but wasnt a requirement for me
  17.   I have two AR carbines, one with an A2, and one with a BattleComp. The battlecomp IS effective. Who knows if it's worth the money. I reckon that depends on the individual.
  18. I hate squibs.
  19.   Well, it's your head :). Don't be surprised if you confuse some folks, since the 5.56 started out in rifles, and is still issued in rifles today. Ain't up on the commie round as much, but would assume that there are rifles chambered in 7.62 x 39 as well.
  20. This is a great thread. I normally just leave a Glock or two lying around. But, I have an 870 of the home defense variety, and several AR's. I have been leaning toward the AR for awhile, because my carbines have all the attributes mentioned in this thread. Short, light, low recoil, and fast sights. I am pretty sold on the AR at this point.
  21. Barrel length doesn't affect accuracy. In fact, a shorter barrel may tend to be a little more accurate for a given profile, because it can have a little less whip. Barrel length affects velocity.  Lots of pieces to that conversation.   A 1:8 twist handles 77 grain Matchkings just fine. That's about as big as you're gonna get if you want your ammo to fit into a magazine. Anything bigger, and you gotta run the gun in single shot mode.   The trade-off is always accuracy at a given range vs the weight of the gun. For hunting, you gotta add in the amount of smack you are going to have at a given range. I wouldn't fret too much over a 2" difference. Depending on how they're chambered, the 18 could wind up being as fast as the 20. It's also probably gonna be lighter, depending on the profile of the two.   Best thing you can do for accuracy is to free float the barrel, and then tweak your loads for optimum barrel time. Oh... and use good bullets.
  22.   I'm about due for another trip too. Come on down, and we'll all go. David can be our security. He's a better shot than the rest of us. :)
  23.   :repost:  :search:   We ain't exactly blazing a trail. :)
