    Ruger LCR 9mm

I was joking. Somewhere in the thread, I got convinced that 9mm isn't such a bad idea.

My model 36 has a shorter cylinder than my 637. It's an older one
  3.   Yep. As an old boss of mine said in the newspaper once, "doesn't matter what you say about me, good or bad. Just spell my name right".

Extraction would be the same. He's talking about making the cylinder shorter, and then moving everything back. I'm thinking that the "barrel" actually starts in the cylinder anyway. At least, that's where the shot start pressure is developed.

Not sure how that works in a revolver. There IS a throat in the cylinder. So, if they move the throat back to where it's a 9mm chamber, that may be the equivalent of what you are saying.

In the second example, the 9mm muzzle energy is 1.65 times the 38 muzzle energy. The quickload example was 1.75 times for 3" barrels. We are starting to see a trend that the 9mm has better than 1.5 times the muzzle energy of the 38.
  7.   He needs some Trey Gowdy. And I need to see that video
  8.   Sounds like he has clearly identified the enemy :)
  9. From Lamar:   Yesterday, Senator Alexander called for restricted travel from Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone to the U.S. to help prevent the spread of Ebola. “Given the spread of Ebola in Dallas, the most sensible way to prevent the spread of Ebola in the United States is to restrict travel to the U.S. from Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone in West Africa to essential personnel, and to develop quarantine procedures for anyone from those countries arriving in the United States. These individuals should be monitored for symptoms for 21 days to make certain they are not infected with Ebola. In addition, I again urge the president, as I did last week, to designate immediately a single cabinet member to coordinate a more urgent Ebola response among all U.S. agencies involved and other countries that should be more involved. This crisis needs stronger leadership and a greater sense of urgency from the president."     Public opinion may force Obunghole to take this approach. Thank god there's an election coming to help drive his indecision.

  12.   It's a Forster Co-ax, the best single stage press in the world!   109 Reviews, all five star...   http://www.midwayusa.com/product/265719/forster-co-ax-single-stage-press   I have a lot more stuff. I'm kind of an ammo geek.
  13. I've done some ammo dinkin'. I suppose it helped...
  14. It WAS in a fund. AFIK, the fund still exists. They just raped the fund. The government tells some big lies, but I won't accept the SS lie. If they were going to screw me at that level, they should have let me know so I could have dedicated my life to screwing them back.
  15.   He won't shoot me. He knows I have a copy of quickload on my laptop :)

You can't "closely" match barrel lengths with snubby barrels and get valid data. Real world is great IF to have identical barrel lengths. A half inch difference in that range can be pretty big. What we are trying to determine is the difference between the two calibers in the SAME gun. Computer simulations have real limitations, but are real good at some things. So, I'm not saying the quickload data is right. It rarely is until you tweak it against real world loads in a specific gun. But, it's fairly reliable for something like the test above. I was just trying to prove to myself that the 9mm+p really is an intermediate caliber between the 38 and 357. I'm convinced that it is. There's more data than just the quickload example above to back it up.   When it comes down to it, anything with a 2" barrel is gonna whimpy compared to a service sized revolver or auto.

  19.   I heard that you couldn't catch it at all here if they LEFT IT IN AFRICA

Just comparing the two calibers straight up. The 9mm is significantly more powerful, and will be in two otherwise identical revolvers. And yes, with a 2 inch barrel, a significant amount of powder is going to burn after it leaves the gun. But note that it burns faster in the smaller capacity case.   Don't believe quickload data? I guess that's an option :)

Note that those are max pressures, and no ammo manufacturer is going to load to max. I'm betting some are close. The quickload thing was just an exercise to rule out variables, and compare the two calibers. Also note that the 9mm is using a hair LESS powder to develop twice as much pressure. That's cause by the difference in case capacity.
  22.   There has been one change. The mortality rate has been upped from 50% to 70%

SAME projectile and SAME barrel length. Max pressure 38 spl+p vs. 9mm+p...
  24.   I'm fine with them shutting down SS if they give me my money back. That money was taken from me, not as tax revenue, but as a "forced" savings plan. I don't give a rat's ass that they squandered the money. It wasn't their money. And, how the hell can somebody be a leach when they are living off their OWN money? If the government had followed your advice, there wouldn't be a problem with SS because they would never have tapped the damn fund. They don't get to go back on the deal now.
