    My first AR

Yep. There will be a box. First items in the box will be stuff that came on your first AR. Some of it will wind up on your second AR, but probably not permanently. So, it will wind up back in the box with some items from your second AR. Then...

    Good choice!
  4.   Yep. And, if they core drill it, they will most likely bolt the drill to the wall, and then patch the anchor holes. The bit is water cooled. I have used them before. They make a nice hole. There's a reason why most vents go through a rough hole in the brick, and then trimmed with metal flashing.
  5. The new shooter thing is IT for me. It goes bang with very low recoil. I have taken girls from it, to 9mm, to a 1911 in under an hour, and they were comfortable with all of them. Haven't had that same luck starting them with a real gun.
  6.   Gotta talk about guns every once in awhile so we don't get evicted :)
  7.   I'm thinking he meant the M2, nicknamed ma deuce.
  8.   I'll bet the new M&P is a helluva pistol. There's your look and feel, from somebody that knows how to do 22 autos. Still need to identify the vintage of your mags. That's an easy fix.

    Glock42

It's a Glock that fits into more cracks and crannies than any other Glock. I will never replace my LCP with it, but will grab one if I ever see a real deal. I'll do that because I like Glocks.   The LCP is a handful to shoot, and the trigger sucks. But, it carries real well.
  10.   Or a mini gun. .308 is easier to find. :)
  11.   Check your mags. That was the biggest problem with that gun. If you have the originals, you are gonna have problems. As I recall, the stuff in the bible was pretty tweaky. I don't think I had to do any of it. I only use the P22 to start new shooters. so, I may not be the best guy to say. It's perfect for my needs. It's not a jam o matic. But, I also shoot the recommended ammo.    If I was gonna shoot a LOT of 22, I would get one of the Rugers or Brownings. They're better guns.
  12. AFIK, that gun had mag problems early on. There have been a couple of upgrades. I have the good mags, shoot CCI Minimags, and it runs as well as any other 22. There are better ones, but it's capable of working. Don't know what to say about the bible being too complicated. I went through it, but never had to do anything to mine. I did change it from a target model to a standard one.
  13.   Well... if they are just gonna up and default on a contract, they need to do it to the Chinese, not us. And BTW... if I was only 5-10 grand into this thing, I would be happy to chalk it up.
  14.   May be better or worse. Fact is, it isn't real. If a society like that ever comes along, it won't be any time soon. You can't take a hairpin curve with a super tanker. Too much momentum.
  15.   I know that promises, and even contracts don't mean anything these days. I will most likely be bringing in income until I'm forced to eat baby food. But don't tell me something for nearly 50 years, and then say it was all a lie to get my money. I know it can't be sustained in it's current state. But i have a statement of what I have paid in. Just give me my money, and I will go away. If somebody loans you money, and you tell them "sorry, I squandered it", you can get all kinds of reactions. Sell Mt. Rushmore, and give me my money.
  16.   And if you think it's going directly from your pocket into mine, you are smoking the shit that killed Elvis. :)
  17. No. You are just trying to see if anybody else will buy into the total anarchy thing. :) We're are stuck with the gov'ment until you can drag up some more votes. Might as well try to get them to do something useful. :)
  18.   I wasn't even a sperm cell in '37. Doesn't matter. Even Paul Ryan doesn't want to shut it down. It won't go away WITHOUT the votes. Call me a leach if you want
  19.   Completely agree. But, here we are :)
  20.   Why read the fine print? It wasn't optional. Anyway, I will wind up getting some of mine back if i make it to the age of eligibility. Part of those changing demographics... my generation wasn't raised to accept a screwing like that. It was NEVER presented as a tax, or it would have been voted away. They won't just shut it down.
  21.   Actually, most grocery store revenue goes into operating that grocery store, so it doesn't all leave. Salaries, taxes, etc. stay here. Not saying you shouldn't support local business. Just saying that they only rake off a small fraction of the total sales revenue as profit. AFIK, when it comes to whiskey and wine, none of the local stuff is legal :)
  22.   The whole damn government is an accounting trick. Doesn't matter what SS really is. It's breach of contract, or it's not. Breach of contract is a rocky path.
  23.   Imagine a Liberian citizen that jumps on a plane to the US, then blows chunks all over a Dallas hospital. Because of the incubation period, this virus is gonna sneak in. I agree. That doesn't mean that restricting travel can't be effective. Again, the big danger with ebola is system overload. EVERY case takes lots of resources. It's hard to cheat a ban with a Liberian passport. It's pretty easy to beat ANY screening process if you're not showing symptoms yet, and are willing to lie. Patient zero proved that.   They need to be hitting on all cylinders. If you have a drivers license from ebola central, you need to stay there. It's not the only measure. It's just one that should be there.

    Ruger LCR 9mm

I have a couple of J frames, and will throw one in my jacket pocket when I'm in the mood. And I LOVE the 357 in a service size gun. With that said, I'm a semi-auto guy. I owned revolvers (S&W) exclusively until the late '70's. I don't buy into the reliability fears. I even have rock solid confidence in my LCP. It has been shot a LOT by a friend that is into self abuse. :)   The thought of opening a gun and loading a 5 round lump of ammo just doesn't compute to me. I have learned some stuff in this thread, and may not be done learning. But, other than nostalgia, I don't get the wheel gun thing. The only exception, to me, is the big bore stuff for dangerous game.
