Always carry with one in the pipe.

He may need to head to the nearest buyback and get him some "free" gas. He is way too scared of that gun to be of much use. -
No. It was just another case of the man picking on the gentle giant. :taser:

St. Ann is another one of those St. Louis County municipalities. Different "town", probably 5 miles center to center from Ferguson. Can't tell you are going from one to the other, unless to see the little sign.

Bushnell AR Optics 4.5-18x40mm BDC Reticle
mikegideon replied to btq96r's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
That one looks OK. Anything that has the proper height and forward offset should be fine. Don't forget to put a little Blue Loctite on the screw threads. -
Bushnell AR Optics 4.5-18x40mm BDC Reticle

That should work just fine. I was gonna suggest the old reliable PEPR, but the Aero should be fine too. -
Might as well light him up. No reason to waste all that high priced gas.

I like Belshire. I bought a Glock 30S from them a couple of weeks ago.

Good job. Been thinking about doing one myself.

There's a bigass artery in the leg that will let out lots of blood. I'm done with Carson. I like the guy, but he ain't it.

Yep. Can't go wrong there.

Here's what will happen (ask me how I know)... ONCE (not if) it shoots loose, if the stock rotates enough counter-clockwise, the buffer retainer will turn loose and really jam things up. It happened to me when I was shooting a LOT of rounds one day. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it will only happen to you once. You know me... I would never laugh at you when you break your gun :)

Not required, but very helpful. A roll pin requires a pretty good smack to get it started. If it's not lined up well enough, it won't go. I built a bunch before I ever bought a set. Actually bought them to assemble a rear sight on an A2. Once I used them, I wished i had bought them on the first rifle. But, it's probably not worth it. We all know that most people stop with one AR  . I know I did... for a couple of months :)

And, regular roll pin punches... http://www.amazon.com/Grip-Roll-Pin-Punch-Set/dp/B003L7HOMG And plain ole punches. I use these the most on rifles, shotguns, and pistols... http://www.amazon.com/Wheeler-Hammer-Punch-Plastic-Case/dp/B004SY07HU

A starter actually has a hole in the end, and the roll pin drops into it. One of the best things I ever bought. I have these... http://www.amazon.com/Ar15-Roll-Pin-Starter-Punch/dp/B0083UUOOG

Here's the deal with that. If you ease the bolt down while charging the gun, it most likely won't have enough spring left to cam the bolt around and lock, especially with a round in the chamber. That's when I have used the assist. I didn't slam it. Just used it to push it into battery. If you have cases sticking, you need to clean your gun and/or fix your ammo problem. Of course, if you can afford to make lots of noise, you can just slingshot that sucker and it will drop right in.

Lowers are easy, and require very few tools. You need a decent punch set and a wrench to tighten your castle nut. Roll pin starter punches and roll pin punches are REAL helpful. Be sure to stake your castle nut. You can use an impact style center punch for that. Upper assembly requires a bigger investment. If you just build your lower and snap on an assembled upper, it's a piece of cake.

They were all juveniles, so they won't do anything to them. At least they started a file on them. It was felony theft and B&E And BTW... all five of them were whiter than Joe Biden.

This is a pretty good bunch around here. But, it's easy to wonder if somebody that has built ONE rifle did everything right, and with the right tools. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if the deal was right based on the parts list. But, I have all the tools, and have built a bunch of them. For me, that means that it would have to be a helluva deal to choose it over just buying a bag of parts. In other words, low resale value. When I see an ad that says "custom built" from somebody I don't know, there's an immediate red flag. I get a picture of a guy holding the upper receiver between his knees, and cranking on the barrel nut with a pipe wrench. :) Oh yeah... and a large bottle of Red Loctite sitting next to him.

I wanna see how he mounted the Surefire light.

Not always. There was one real positive post this morning. And, I'm so tickled with Nashville Metro right now that I could turn cartwheels. They arrested five thievin' little bastards and got my #### back from them. Chased them down with a helicopter! I know that wasn't good samaritan stuff, but it sure was good cop stuff. In that case, I was hoping for at least one dick in the bunch. :taser:

Resale value will probably be best with a gun that is "manufactured". Unfortunately, not all home made guns are created equal. It isn't all about the parts list either.

My mini runs fine. It was also my first choice. Now, I have 7 1/2 AR's. I built all of them. Of the ones I have shot, they all run fine. My first one... the one where I picked the features that would never change... has been changed except the upper receiver :). The mini has been stripped down to a lightweight, compact rifle. Haven't shot it in years, but will again. Get the forward assist. I have used mine in rare circumstances to nudge the bolt into battery. It's there for a reason. And, the only real reason to leave it out is cost. Don't anguish over many features when you get your first one. The gun is totally modular.

New Twist in the SIG Brace Debate

Gotta love those guys -
If you're gonna paint the wall, you might as well do it in one coat :)
