  I figured it was a PEPR. I use the specs suggested by the Fat Wrench. I'm betting money that the mount hand a problem out of the box. Good lesson learned. Put your rings together and torque them down (without the optic) before you start lapping. That's something I would have never thought to do, but will in the future.

I have never had a screw strip on a mount using a Fat Wrench. Just curious, is that what you were using?

  Me too. The trick with them is to allways twist them in the direction they are wrapped.   Here's another one... never clean the inside of a gas tube with CLP.

  Then may not want to get a 16" A2 upper to begin with. You will have to change the gas block, gas tube, end cap, and handguard with the barrel. Mounting an A2 gas block on a barrel requires real gunsmithing, and they're not reusable.

  Bet they make a nasty enough hole.
