Evidently Randy Rayburn's widdle feewings got hurt so now you must log in via Facebook in order to post comments to online articles on the Tennessean's website: Tennessean's New Comment Policy Posting anonymously has a purpose. Once others are able to discover your identity they can at very least harass you online and at very worst stalk you in person. We have (hopefully) all heard about the importance of maintaining online privacy and I hope we all remember this when it comes to visiting the Tennessean's website. The Tennessean's new policy has nothing to do with maintaining civil discourse. It has everything to do with finding a new source of revenue to replace their ever-declining subscriber and sales base. Eh. Not good but I do not see how it in any way validates the anti-carry position. The moron got stopped for driving at 60 mph in a 40 mph zone and not for anything that happened with his gun, which was not even on his person but in the car he was driving. Crucify him for endangering lives with a car but not with a firearm. If anything it shows alcohol does not necessarily cause one to be a danger with firearms.

6:00 Open Carry at Eastland Kroger
GuardianDevil001 replied to EastHipster's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Actually, the perishable food that you buy at the Eastland Avenue Kroger will probably kill you before any bullet does. -
Forget about the question of whether I would shoot them. I am an adult male. There is no way I am going to let a teenaged girl whom I do not know into my home or allow her to use my phone. Too many things can go wrong and if she is trying to set me up for whatever reason I am going to be convicted in the court of public opinion, if not criminal court, no matter what the actual circumstances. I'll call 911 or a cab for her but unless I see she is in imminent danger (someone chasing her, dog attacking her, etc.) she can forget about coming in.

Hi Girls and Boys, One week ago I sent an email to every mayoral, vice-mayoral, at-large council, and 6th district council candidate in Davidson County who did not cast a vote in the 2009 proposal to allow Handgun Carry Permit holders to go armed in municipal parks, and for whom I could find an email address. The email asked the following: “What is your position on allowing Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit holders to go armed in Davidson County parks and/or greenways? Would you introduce, sponsor, or support a proposal allowing either of the two or both?†Here are the responses (or lack thereof): 6th District Candidates Borzak, Bob: No response.* Rich, Dave: No response. Schmidt, Hans: OPPOSES the right to carry in parks. Westerholm, Peter: No response. *Bob Borzak recently suffered a brain aneurysm and is recovering at Vanderbilt Hospital. This probably explains why he has not responded. At-Large Candidates Barry, Megan: Current district 8 Council Member, voted AGAINST parks carry in 2009. Coleman, Sam: Current district 32 Council Member; voted in FAVOR of parks carry in 2009. Crafton, Eric: Current district 22 Council Member; voted in FAVOR of parks carry in 2009. Crawford, Donna: No response. Francois, Renard: No response. Garrett, Tim: Current At Large Council Member; voted in FAVOR of parks carry in 2009. Jakes, Ken: SUPPORTS right to carry in parks. Maxwell, James A (Jim): Could not find email address. Maynard, Jerry: Current At Large Council Member, voted AGAINST parks carry in 2009. McFolin, Donald Ray: Could not find email address. O'Donniley, Don: Could not find email address. Speer, Keith: Could not find email address. Steine, Ronnie: Current At Large Council Member, voted AGAINST parks carry in 2009. Townsend, Charles L Sr: Could not find email address. Tygard, Charlie: Current At Large Council Member, voted AGAINST parks carry in 2009. Usmani, Sajid W: No response. Wilhoite, Vivian: Current At Large Council Member, voted AGAINST parks carry in 2009. Wooten, Jack: Could not find email address. Vice Mayor Baxter, James Arnold: Could not find email address. Neighbors, Diane: Current Vice Mayor, voted AGAINST parks carry in 2009. Cast deciding vote! Mayor Barnes, Marvin: Could not find email address. Casper, Bruce: Could not find email address. Dean, Karl: No response. Keeton, James: SUPPORTS the right to carry in parks. My assumption is that those who did not respond are against parks carry. This means not only do I disagree on the issue but that the candidate did not have the courtesy and respect to respond to a legitimate question. I provide this information so that you can make an informed decision this Election Day. If you are aware of any errors or omissions then please let me know. If I get any late responses I will update the group.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bernie a few years ago. His hobby at the time was rescuing and rehabilitating injured squirrels. That any rational and objective person who has met the man would describe him as a cold-blooded vigilante is beyond my comprehension. Of the four savages who attacked him only the one confined to a wheelchair did not go on to commit another felony. One helped to rape a woman on a rooftop. Bernie's only real crime was poor marksmanship.

Crossbreed Supertuck Springfield XD Sub Compact
GuardianDevil001 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Good point. I didn't even think of it as a necessarily Christian symbol. I thought it was a cross because the name of the manufacturer is Crossbreed. But even if they put a frigging inverted pentagram on the clip I would have a problem with it. It is unnecessary and only draws attention to the clips. I have always been a believer in function over fashion. -

No, it is not a question of mere aesthetics. Having a raised design (cross or any other symbol) makes it more noticeable and the main idea behind this style of holster is discreet carry. Would someone automatically think I have a gun? Maybe, maybe not. But they would be more likely to think I had something hidden in my waistband. A criminal might think perhaps something worth stealing, a law enforcement officer perhaps something illegal. A flat black non-shiny metal clip would be barely noticeable against a black leather belt. -

My biggest problem with the Crossbreed Supertuck is the raised cross on the metal clips. If the idea is discreet carry when wearing a tucked-in shirt then why put anything on the clip that draws attention to it? Yeah, I could buy J-hooks but why should I have to? The holster should be designed for concealed carry out of the box. -
In addition to the usual discussion of proposed legislation (the state legislature is back in session...) and current events the guest speaker for March's meeting will be Doug Jones. Mr. Jones is a Nashville attorney who has written an extensive work on Nashville's most famous murder/cold case, the story of the murder of Marsha Trimble. Her murder is the story of the night.

The Nashville chapter of the Tennessee Firearms Association will hold its monthly meeting at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 15th at the Golden Corral in Hermitage. The Golden Corral in Hermitage is located at 315 Old Lebanon Dirt Road, which is just off Old Hickory Blvd (TN-45) behind the Chick-Fil-A, approximately 2-1/4 miles north of exit 221 on I-40. We have a private room reserved as of 5:30 PM so please feel free to come early, enjoy the buffet, and meet your fellow 2nd Amendment supporters. When paying for your meal be sure to tell the cashier you are there for the TFA meeting so that you receive the group discount rate. The Nashville chapter's monthly meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. We typically have a guest speaker to keep us informed regarding issues, history, and legislation related to our Second Amendment rights. You do NOT have to be a TFA member to attend. All are welcome!
