  1. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes either way.
  2. Maybe I'm confused as to the question. Do you mean when is it required dependent on charges, political office, or anything high profile? Grand Jury is the only way in TN to get a charge in Criminal Court other than bound over by a waiver from General Sessions if i recall correctly. Doesn't matter what the charge or profile of the case.
  3. You sir have not heard of the great Chuck Norris! lol Had to throw that in there and break up the uptight conversation.
  4. That is going to hurt because THP's tickets are through general sessions and that usually means higher court costs. As far as a defense you know if he wasn't wearing his campaign hat he can't write a ticket. Do a school if you want to keep the points off your license.
  5. I use to drive an unmarked car at my last department was the fortunate winner of a drunk at 50mph into my car while I was stopped. So i'm paranoid about about my lights even more now. I know some of these lights are pushing the limit at night of being blinding but if most people would get out of the way while I'm going to an emergency call or not come at my car at 70mph on the interstate and wait 5ft from my bumper to move over I wouldn't use them. My bar has a low option so if I'm stationary at night with them on I'll turn them to low hoping they won't blind drivers.
  6. Those are definitely the typical South Nashville gangs. They aren't anything to play with either. But good job on what you do and keep safe doing it. It would be nice if the idiots would get the message and just stop tagging stuff.
  7. May sound crazy but it works great. Get some neosporin put a little on q-tip rub along inside your nose. Also I use a sinus rinse every so often it helps somewhat to moisten it. I get especially bad dry sinuses and nose bleeds during this time of year and this has helped me greatly.
  8. That makes me laugh every time I see it.
  9. Interesting view. Anyway atleast the OP had a good encounter.
  10. Yea they definitely know how to waste money. I wish they would abolish the Metro Government and go back to a original County and City.
  11. Hey now don't lump me in with those wind bags called politicians. lol Thems fightin' words!
  12. Just so you all know they are sobriety checkpoints in Tennessee. There is no legal basis that you even have to lower the window and converse with anybody as far as I know. Maybe one of our criminal defense attorneys on board can advise you better. I have always been instructed they pull up if you don't notice in immediate signs of impairment you send them packing quick and fast. Now if THP is involved they will do license checks. I have done the checkpoints and I'll tell you we were full up on drunks. There is no real monetary gain from a checkpoint. The very small portion of any fines that "may" go back to a general fund is less than what that one officer makes in one hour. Most checkpoints I have seen were usually in part of a grant so there wasn't any real loss on behalf of the local government funds.
  13. +1 on practicing on drawing your weapon while seated. If anybody pulls up to my car my gun is already out of the holster. Luckily I do it so much that I can get it from my duty holster while seated in the car with no problems. I also recommend practicing as if your in a restaurant we did that a few years back during inservice training and it was good stuff. I would say they were looking to rob somebody but luckily it wasn't you.
  14. By your opinion I can tell you have no clue how revenue is input into government operations. If you think a sobriety checkpoint generates even enough revenue to pay for itself you would completely wrong. You would be wrong also to think there aren't officers who are concerned about getting impaired drivers off the street. But you as everyone else is entitled to your opinion regardless of how one sided it is. Have a nice day.
  15. With it being a very delayed report from time of incident to report Metro will probably have you call their teleserv reporting number. Just give the civilian reporter all the information you have and the serial numbers so it can be entered as stolen. The only way you will get it back is if it's entered stolen so it can eventually be returned to you if it's ever ran by serial number.
  16. I'm working all weekend and hoping the drunks stay at home and be quiet. But I'm not counting on it.
  17. The attorney general won't issue an opinion from a question raised by a citizen. Might be better if you know someone personally who is in the state legislature who wants the answers also to formally ask for his opinion. Good questions though and would be useful for people to know. Taken form the AG website... Who may request an opinion from the Attorney General? The Attorney General is required to provide written legal opinions to "the governor, secretary of state, state treasurer, comptroller of the treasury, members of the general assembly and other state officials...in the discharge of their official duties." Tenn. Code Ann. § 8-6-109 ( (6). The Attorney General cannot issue opinions to county or local government officials or to private citizens.
  18. Uh don't shoot yourself..maybe I don't know what rules you are referring to. If you're legal to be on that property shooting then you're good. Certain cities don't allow shooting firearms in the city limits. Make sure you got a good backstop.
  19. The streamlight strion is great light. Like a streamlight stinger but much smaller and just as bright.
  20. Not saying it wouldn't considered a residence for the sake of self defense but it has wheels and is easily mobile unless permanent it falls under the exemption for automobiles for a search with only probable cause and no search warrant. At least that's how it was back when I went through interdiction school. The only reason I bring that up is since we probably don't have any case law, that I personally know of, in regards to firearm possession inside a mobile camper where such camper may be in a posted property. I'm just throwing that out there for you but realistically you would probably be good. I also am not familiar with the land so it may not even be an issue to start with. I could be wrong and hopefully I am because I would hate for somebody to be the test case and lose their HCP for something silly.
  21. A camper isn't considered a residence unless permanently affixed.
  22. I didn't get a knock on the door. If I had they would have been told to kick rocks. I could understand a mailout survey but I don't like strangers near my house. Plus I sleep during the day so I definitely would have been ill.
  23. Go ahead an spend the money. Most detectors don't pick up quick enough if a good radar or lidar operator is working the speed measuring device. I just like turning off and on near people with detectors to drive them crazy with the noise.
  24. Yep they have been aware of the issue for several years. At MEPS they check for tattoos but you know some don't really care what the tattoo is and some gangs get people without tats to enlist.
  25. Yes you get your bullets too, but you can reload your magazine yourself.
