  1. I was just down there last month. McGuire's Irish Pub is a good place to eat. Just across the bridge in Destin. Seablaster boat ride, they have different times for swimming and dolphin watching (free beer). The Air Force Armament Musuem is down there I didn't get a chance to go check it out but looks interesting.
  2. If I had stopped you and the gun was in the glove box my only question would be why isn't isnt closer than that?
  3. I've seen multiple people carrying concealed and oc. I don't really think twice about them typically as they aren't doing anything illegal. You watch a person's movements and gestures along with slight printing and it gives it away. But I'm looking for weapons or indicators of weapons while at work so maybe I just observe people more.
  4. I read this decision and I am completely speachless on how being shot alone isn't considered serious bodily injury. I doubt seriously this will in anyway influence the decision on using a firearm in defense of serious bodily injury or death. This just blows my mind and wanted to share it, I'll give a brief overview and link the opinion. Robber 1 and Robber 2 enter an apartment where a drug deal is occurring and rob two people. One robber fires his pistol striking one of the people in the leg. The court states although the bullet passed through the victim's leg, the wound required minimal medical treatment and did not cause the victim to suffer loss os consciousness, extreme pain, disfigurement, or impairment. They dropped the conviction from a Class A Felony Especially Aggravated Robbery to a Class B Felony of Aggravated Robbery. http://www.tncourts.gov/sites/default/files/farmermichael_opn.pdf
  5. It is just Tennessee's version of the program for an instant background.
  6. I believe there was a AG opinion about LE carrying on campus it was stated they may carry regardless if on duty. One statute overrides the other I would have to dig around to find it. As far as the special deputy cards I have seen them issued to people that had no business with them but some places like private university police departments are issued them to give the arrest powers. Vandy police are issued special police commissions by Metro PD but are only good during work. After end of work they have to carry by a HCP.
  7. 186 After a long day and a few beers I'll take it lol.
  8. I wouldn't sweat it. Sounds like you just popped it out of socket I've done it to my knee several years ago. It would pop out very easily for awhile afterwards so you may want to take it easy on that shoulder and take some ibuprofen to ease the swelling and pain. If it continues after a week or two maybe then I would get it checked out.

    Frustrated

Well the truth is most residential burglaries happen during the day while people are at work. The lights are good at night and are more of a comfort item. If your wife doesn't work or you have a another personal vehicle parked at the house I would leave it in the driveway and move it some occassionally to give the appearance of somebody is home. An alarm is good but the company needs to have a quick notification for a quick response. If you have neighbors in sight of the house you know have her talk to them to help lend a hand and some eyes. Neighbors in general are observant of other neighbors' actions. They see and know vehicles coming and going and if they should be there. I would still ask for extra patrol from your local LE if possible. Some people even ask us to flash a spotlight in the house so their wife will know we came by. It doesn't seem like much but helps ease their worries some.
  10. There is no tax for registering. You pay tax on the vehicle upon purchase. You only pay registration fee plus wheel tax from your county if one is needed. Plus some of the counties require a emissions test. So you should be safely under $100 per vehicle until they hike it up in the future.
  11. The Knox county story has nothing to do with some crazy story about getting stripped searched and pulling a used tampon out. The kid did circles around the bat to get dizzy. Stupid but funny.
  12. I was working traffic on the I65 Sunday when they came through here. It appeared to be National Guard units most were mechanics. They had to stop every so often to refuel. At times they ran out and had to send the humvees foward to an exit to get diesel to get some trucks back on the road. I talked to one of the Sergants asking for directions to a gas station with stalls big enough for them to fit. I didn't see any weapons I figured it was AT training time.
  13. There is always 3 sides to the story. You are only getting one side I wouldn't get to wrapped up him telling you they said not to prosecute. If he has their information he can go down to appropriate court and swear out warrants then he will have to appear in court for the hearings.
  14. It would take mass attacks to control the heards of population using martial law. It seems to get stirred up every so often to get people twisted up. I don't seriously think it will happen in any of our lifetimes.
  15. I have much respect for our local fire and ems crews here. But they will call in a heartbeat if it is leading to something that may lead to physical confrontation or further. I don't blame them, I don't put up with people jacking with my fire or ems crews. They are there to help not to take a beating. I'm all for anybody carrying ems, fire, or average joe.
  16. The tape doesn't show much but just a few seconds as usual. But this did happen awhile back. I think it was beginning of the year or late last year.
  17. I use to help train reserve officers at a former department so I'll say what I would tell them. Get your law books (traffic & criminal codes) read one front to back then read the other front to back and repeat. Learn all you can about search and seizure and ask questions from experienced officers. Try to be safe and not get sued.
  18. I would love to not have to shave daily, damn work policies. If I don't shave I get all grizzly with the facial hair. I have to shave daily against the grain to get a good shave and go through razors like crazy.
  19. I've been sprayed several times, training and during the fight. Best decon is hose pipe to spray the resin off best you can then sit in front of fan. The only good thing about it is my sinuses are clear afterwards. Yea and don't get in the shower shortly after decon because it will reactivate and it will travel with the water down to the junk.
  20. Actually yes they can keep their scholarship and quit the team to stay at Penn State http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public/ncaa/20120723/21207232 Waiver of transfer rules and grant-in-aid retention. Any entering or returning football student-athlete will be allowed to immediately transfer and will be eligible to immediately compete at the transfer institution, provided he is otherwise eligible. Any football student-athlete who wants to remain at the University may retain his athletic grant-in-aid, as long as he meets and maintains applicable academic requirements, regardless of whether he competes on the football team.
  21. I've got to admit that dispatcher did a hell of a job. Too bad those guys didn't have gas masks in their cars as issued equipment I bet they will after this incident. This guy is done when it comes to trial.
  22. They got hammered! If I were a player on the team that probably wouldn't make it pro I would keep my scholarship and quit the team. Free college and focus on academics. I assume there will many transferring very soon.
  23. I knew it had been too long since your last cop hating comment.
  24. I watched pieces of it and Zimmerman seems like an average guy or atleast hows he comes across. I think it will definately be determined by the make up (race and gender) of the jury.
