Vanderbilt Hospital layoffs today
Lumber_Jack replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I find it hard to believe that VUMC would fire over a 1000 employees based on the possibility of loosing a lawsuit. Im certainly not versed in how to manage a corporation of any size, but I would think they would wait and let the suit get under way before layoffs. I dont know though, maybe someone can share some insight If they are loosing money they need to restructure, and unfortunately that almost always involves people loosing their jobs. -
The same could be said as to why he didn't write a one line statement saying "no open carry allowed". If this was ONLY about OC and nothing else they would have stated that.
You're reading way too much into this. He doesn't care about guns or gun politics, only selling as many people coffee a possible. Saying "no open carry" doesn't appease the libs, saying "guns are banned" offend us, so he said something in between. In all honesty the guy probably doesn't give two ####s about concealed vs OC, he just doesn't want people feeling uncomfortable in his stores. My invisible gun has never mad anyone uncomfortable, of that I'm certain.

Define "most people". Most people you know, or have posted on Open Carry, or people you have personally met? Honestly the true sample size is way too small to say that Open Carry educates people. If nothing else the liberal media machine drives the consensus to the "panty wetting" by default.
-
I think what he meant was that, of course your gonna read those stories on an open carry forum. Because every time someone gets to tell someone about Open Carry they write a 10page thread about it. But the number of "sharing" instances versus number of "panty wetting" Instances is not a balanced scale, not even close.

I thought it was Sticky Icky....

If you think Open Carrying a gun "educates" anyone about anything, you live on a different planet than I.

Vanderbilt Hospital layoffs today
Lumber_Jack replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Most of the layoffs were nurses, admin, and auxiliary staff. Vanderbilt is still a Level 1 Trauma Center and will continue to be so (although level of care may suffer in future). This change will save money, but likely add stress and longer shifts for those still working. In my mind that only equals lesser quality if care. -

That's not right. I'd call Wilson. -
Adjustable gas block issue. Wilson Combat
Lumber_Jack replied to Luke E.'s topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
That's interesting. A lot of adjustable gas blocks are meant to "tune" the gas so the adjustments might not be supper noticeable. Unless the block has a full shut adjustment (some do, some don't) I would pay less attention to recoil and more attention to brass ejection pattern and does it lock the bolt back on the last round. I have a Siekins Precision adjustable block on my .300BLK and it's a little under gassed at the current adjustment, but cycles both fine, I just get brass ejection about 5 O'clock and off the deflector. Nothing enough to warrant an adjustment yet. -
My thoughts exactly. He was fighting off tears the whole time while yelling at her and calling her a Bitch. Walt loves Skyler he wants her to just be compliant but she was never comfortable with any of it. You can even see Skyler realize early in in the phone call what he was doing. Otherwise she would have been a little more vocal towards him like he always had been in the past.
-
I totally think he was playing up the phone call just for the cops. He knew they were there. That's why when he mentioned Hank he was crying but acting so harsh saying " you'll never see Hank again" Walt knows his end means, he's just trying to save his family. I truly think he cared for Hank and didn't want him to die, but that ship sailed before he could alter events I kind of wonder now if maybe the Ricin cigarette is for himself

Actually I'd say Grundy is worse....but yes similar.

I agree Leroy. I spend a lot of time in that area and its not for the faint of heart. There is a state owned park just across the mountain called Cumberland Trail ( used to be called Blake Mountian) it's poorly maintained and very sketchy. I believe more than anything that there are multiple people involved. Not just one shooter

what is on your adult beverage menu for the evening?
Lumber_Jack replied to Mike.357's topic in General Chat
Yep, never fails. When my wife sends me to the wine store, me and and a black man searching the store both looking for mascato  -
"My name is Heisenberg , king of kings, look on my works you mighty and despair" I think it's the rise of Heisenberg. I think Gomey dies, which gives Hank and kind of 'way out' cause no other DEA are involved. I think the shooting stops and Hank emerges from the SUV and takes control as old Heisenberg would have.

Maybe, but I wouldn't bet breakfast on it. Seems all 4 were shot in the head. So either he is an excellent shot under duress or they were executed. I would have to believe also that the victims were somewhat incapacitated. How do all 4 get shot in the head? Did anyone put up a fight. It didn't take long to find the suspect so there had to be a pretty clear connection.
-
TBI said today they believe the man is custody is the perpetrator. The 4 dead , one female, 3 male ages 22, 17, 17, 16. Suspect age 26. The female was the aunt of one of the males (ie boys mom and grandmother pregnant at same time). The deceased female also had a young so n in elementary school. One deceased boy was listed as formerly at Cumberland Co High, and Stonehenge high, and recently home schooled. I hate to speculate.....but do it often. I think they were looking for trouble, and found it. Unfortunate, such a waste of young life

Wow, you have 37s and it can't handle 4.88? I had a 97 with the old 4.0 and 35's and 4.88 was like running stock. I didn't realize the new ones were so lacking on horsepower. I guess everyone trying to save every MPG possible. Don't get me wrong the 4.0 was pretty anemic as well, I guess I just had delusions that the new engine was more powerful.
-
I'm assuming you regeared? 4.88? Have you done any computer module add-ons to try and boost the HP. Do they make a turbo or super charger for these? Just wondering if an engine swap is the only way to get a true boost in HP. What engine options would fit?
