Documents reveal more about KPD switch from .40-caliber Glock
Lumber_Jack replied to Coastie's topic in Handguns
Yeah I wouldn't bet against the officers being indoctrinated to believe the Sigs are better. Kind of a placebo affect if you will. If you can shoot, you can shoot a Glock. Plus how much do KPD officers actually shoot their duty weapons? -
No no no, you misunderstood. I said "I've known people to dig on frozen head and GSMNP". I didn't say it was legal :D You can dig on Cherokee national Forest if you buy a $15 permit. My job isn't all roses. I had to walk my ass off to get up that mountain, and got into a yellow jackets nest. Damn I hate those things.

No, that's a typical woods seen vine (not sure of actual species) This is from today

Barnet's gun and Pawn is in Hampton, just outside Elizabethton. They have a new building and I hear people speak of going there. I have never been personally so I can't speak to their prices or customer service

This is Daisy, she is my shadow. If I bring her a bed down to the garage she will lay as long as I stay there.

Bike Trip - 2000 miles in less than 48 hours
Lumber_Jack replied to Good_Steward's topic in General Chat
Drink plenty of water before going over the high altitudes of Colorado. The fast ascents of highway speed can cause altitude sickness (headache, nausea). A couple ibuprofen can be good preventatives too. Good luck, be safe -
And this is the reason I have, and will continue too, tip on the credit card. I also don't believe that it is an industry-wide standard to essentially "guess" at a servers tip based on the amount of sales he/she had for a night and force them to claim it on the w-2. My guess is that would lead to too many lawsuits regarding over-estimation of taxable income on the side of the employer. I do believe (from first hand accounts by my server friends) that there is an industry-wide practice of under reporting tips to a.) lower the taxable income at the end of the year; and b.) forcing the restaurant to pay the difference between their "earned income" (a combination of hourly rate and tips) and the minimum wage. So essentially by under reporting tips, the servers are asking the customer to subsidize their income with tax-free, non-reported tips; and stealing from the employer by forcing them to pay them more.
Yep, I was young, dumb, and naive. I participated in this because it was what was taught to me by senior servers. I later realized (had it explained to me) how I was being dishonest and reported cash tips accordingly. I've been fortunate enough to not have to work that god forsaken job since then
-
I think I may be misremembering. It's quite possible the tips are added to your check and taxes withheld accordingly. I'm certain the cash tips were done on an honor reporting basis
-
When I served (8yrs ago) we had to enter the credit card tip amount into the computer system to get paid that tip. The system recorded that and sent you a check. It showed up on your W2 as untaxed wages. For cash tips you were supposed to input the amount of cash into the computer for the same reason. But as TMF said no one was honest and most people claimed 0 cash tips.

Wait till you get to Senior Asshat, it's like the holy grail level

The two kids at the bus stop have every right not to be shot with plastic pellets. But what point does this become a school matter? The should've been a matter for law-enforcement if the students felt they were being harassed by the two boys in the yard.

Yeah I bough a cheap torque wrench when building mine. The nut tightened and lined up about 40lbs. It's the only upper I've built so I can assume I got lucky.

Yeah that's exactly what I inferred. He was self loathing over JR but then got so pissed at Grey Matter he bolted. But I think there is a piece to the "grey matter puzzle" that we don't know yet

Bike Trip - 2000 miles in less than 48 hours

Man I thought about this thread yesterday as I was driving from Knoxville to Johnson City and back. That must have sucked on a bike, haha -
Shocker. Still curious as to how marijuana deal/ robbery ends up killing 4 people.

Yeah until last year the season was Aug 15, but the berries in Tennessee are still green at that time. So they moved it to Sept 1 to help get the berries red before digging
-
I've chewed the root before and felt a spurt but hard to say if its real or a placebo affect.

Lots of places buy. Most herb and fur traders. I sell to a guy in Jonesboro. Look on wildgrown.com they usually have a list if buyers by state
-
Yeah as far as I know. As log as it hasn't molded or rotted.
So what is the green weight of that sample in your photo?
I'd say about 2 ounces. So it takes quite a few roots. Last year I sold a brown lunch sack full for just shy of $400. So that was about 3/4 lb. It takes effort but its fun and pays pretty good for some time in the woods. I dug this amount(8 ounces in about 2hrs yesterday) My goal is 3lbs dried this season. We'll se if I can do it. That's be a good payday
-
It varies from year to year but I won't sell for less than $600/lb dried. Once dried it keeps for years so I just wait for a good price. In 2009 it was selling for $1000-$1200/lb which was higher than its ever been. It takes approx 3 lbs of green root to make 1 lb dried

Well yeah, me too. It has good medicinal properties but those don't outweigh the monetary properties :D
